Only QB to take a snap this year now an injury concern.

quote:

South Carolina has been able to stay relatively healthy so far this season but several players missed practice on Monday with a myriad of minor injuries. Quarterback Dylan Thompson, who has a neck strain, was the most notable player to sit out.

“He should be OK by Saturday,” Spurrier said. “I think he’s going to try to practice a little bit today. He was banged up, sore last night. It gave the other two players a chance to throw it around a little bit.”

If Thompson is unable to play on Saturday at Kentucky, Spurrier wasn’t ready to name who would start in his place. Redshirt freshman Connor Mitch and sophomore Perry Orth split the first-team reps on Monday night and Spurrier will let the two battle it out this week in practice for the backup job.

“We’ll wait and see,” Spurrier said. “I don’t want too much arguments about which one goes in there. They both practiced very well last night. They’re still competing in practice everyday, those two.”

Thompson is the only quarterback to play so far this season but Spurrier is hopeful Mitch or Orth could play effectively if they had to go into the game.

“If we had to, hopefully they could go in there and play fairly well, but we don’t know. We haven’t had to play either of them yet. We’ll see. We’ll see if Dylan is OK.”

Spurrier also noted that wide receiver Pharoh Cooper did not practice on Monday saying he was “banged up.” Offensive guard Cody Waldrop is going to try to practice on Tuesday night.

Isn't Mitch pretty highly regarded among your fans? I seem to remember that from reading about y'all before our game

I feel like 'we'll get em next year' should have already kicked in for SCAR.

I mean this is Thompson's last year and your SEC hopes are dwindling, might as well get the underclassmen some playing time.

True, but I would have liked for them to have some snaps before they get their first start. I honestly would have like to see one or both get a series in every game we've played so far this year, but what do I know.

Yes, he's a practice/scrimmage god around Columbia. We'd just like to see him get some game time before depending on him to win anything.

I feel like your mother probably carries several of the nastier STDs around in her system.

This is terrible news for Kentucky. We are the undisputed world champions of making a back-up QB look like a superstar.

See, e.g., every backup QB that has ever played against Kentucky ever.

Great. We've got no chance now.

That was our secret weapon. Dylan Thompson will always be our backup QB at heart. So we're golden either way, right?

Looks like DT has a neck strain, has a whole week to get some therapy and SOS says he should be back for Saturday.

My mother is a saint. I forgive you for lashing out at her, you are clearly going through a tough time. However, if you impune her reputation again may God strike you dead.

SC already has 2 SEC losses with another definite on the way against Auburn...is there any chance spurrier just plays someone else to get experience for next year? Or will they just ride out DT?

He didn't necessarily impugn her reputation. While the implication that she whored herself to a state of being riddled with disease was probably there, she could just as reasonably become festooned with STDs from the ridiculously poor condition of a dirty Texas toilet seat. Guilty conscience?

I don't think I'd mind that in the least, honestly. We should be getting more of our younger guys reps on both offense and defense.

Some may disagree, but given the expectations of this season it does already feel like a bust. The East seems already out of reach and by extension the SEC title.

getting STDs from a toilet seat is not a real thing. I hope this revelation does not recharacterize events in any of your relationships.

But what if it's a particularly slutty toilet seat?
