I doubt his innocence. It’s the absolutes people I’m talking about

I have no dog in this fight, but what leads you to believe he's innocent exactly? Duress from signing the guilty plea or what?

Well, the judge and his court assigned counselor lead me to believe that he may have received a bad deal and some horrible legal advice. The kid always said that he did nothing wrong and the guilty plea was explained to him and his parents as the quickest way to "make this go away"

The Counselor: He noted that Luke “was court-ordered to write an apology letter (to his niece), which he was able to write from the position of someone guilty of the offense. His letter was written ‘as if’ he sexually abused his neice (sic).”

"The Tribune also reported that the following scene ensued at Heimlich’s final court appearance:

The judge addressed Luke: “I want to tell you how proud I am of you for completing the program so fast, and it’s very impressive that you’re ready to go to college. … it sounds like things are going well for you, and we expect great things. … congratulations. You deserve a big round of applause.”

In the courtroom, Luke got one."

The whole incident stemmed from a crazy sister-in-law threatening to ruin the entire family and wanting a divorce.

There are no winners here.

tl;dr: I have no idea about his guilt or innocence. His journey through the legal system has been an absolute shite-show though

I still don't understand why this bothers LSU fans (and others) so much that threads are here for good ole boy upvotes. It's easy click bait around here.

There's not many hot buttons that are easier to hit than ones which deal with kids and innocence. Those trigger errrrybody.

Jail time vs no jail time. Take your pick.

If he were really innocent he would have a pretty good chance chance of winning the trial, so jail time was not guaranteed. If he gambled and lost the trial, he was going to juvenile not some hardcore state pen for adults

ehhhhh, maybe. No lawyer would like the odds of going against a little girl on the witness stand. There is no way to not look like the bad guy in that situation, and that can be all it takes for a jury.

If I'm accused of molesting my niece which I am innocent of, I'm fighting tooth and nail to clear my name no matter what. I'm not in criminal defense, but I am a lawyer, and I know that no defense lawyer worth anything cares about looking like a bad guy in getting their client the best deal they can

Exactly. That's the bill that was sold to this kid and his family. The best deal, to the family, was to make it all go away the quickest. Didn't work out that way.

Which sounds like the best deal they could give him.

I've said it before, I think that he has and will go through more than most.

Most creepos aren't like this kid. They have no attention to them and the system sets them up to more than likely do it again.

Every game this kid goes through everyone knows about it.

I'm not defending him more so pointing out that our system is fricked on both sides.
