There's no denying it. As a second generation okie, well 1st generation if you take into account my father was born there before statehood, everyone of us who fit that description are descended from Indians, outlaws or both.
While my grandfather was neither an Indian or an outlaw, he did move there from North Texas as a young man in the 1880's when it was still referred to as Indian Territory and took up ranching.
In at least one respect the joke is on the ones who sent all those Indians to live in what they considered worthless land. Some hundred years after the fact much of that worthless land turned out to be sitting on some of the largest reserves of oil in the Continental United States. After over a hundred years of continuous production, me and my siblings still receive a hefty amount of money every month from the royalties we own on land that was my grandfather's ranch. There is one producing well completed in 1930 that bears my family name. I don't think many of you Show Me's can make that claim.

When I think....not often.....of OU, I laff & remember Burrow putting up 7 TD's at half. And Saban telling a few big boosters, pre NCG, that "they have no idea what's about to happen" on the way to his LSU team winning a NC.

When I think of Missouri, I think of how many championships were won by the Royals, Chiefs, Blues, Cardinals, Rams, Hawks and compare that with the big goose egg of championships won in Columbia.

Pro teams always do better in Big Ten states.

Some of the nicest people I've ever encountered were in Oklahoma. Missouri? Not so much.

Oh really? Well Okies view marriage akin to high school going steady, and will lay you down in a second, married or otherwise...
On the other hand, Mexicans... never mind.

This is actually a myth (the worthless land) anyway. The government sent the Indians to Oklahoma because it was the closest place that they could send them that wasn't a part of the United States. They likely would have sent them to Texas if Texas hadn't been a part of Mexico.
Early on... some tribes were placed in Kansas and even Iowa before they became states. Furthermore, they couldn't have placed the tribes any further west because the plains tribes were still in control of that area.
The worthless land thing is stupid because most of Oklahoma looks like the state to which it is most adjacent. And the middle part of the state looksa lot like like Kansas or Texas. Take your pick.
The red dirt grows stuff just fine. The northwest and western portions of the state grows wheat with the best of them.

It seems one Mizzou fan thinks a lot about Oklahoma...and Arkansas...and Tennessee...and Texas...and LSU...and Alabama...and Kansas. Waiting on MS schools, KY, UGA, SC, UF.
