He uses a private jet whenever and wherever he wants. Lane has full autonomy at Ole Miss. There’s only 3 or 4 college jobs he would take. He’s already a top 10 paid coach. If he leaves it will probably be an NFL job.

You don't think Florida is a job he'd take?

Lane can’t do that
Surely you can’t be this simple….Lane was a child when he coached at USC. I only count his post-Saban coaching. Since then he has coached at Florida Atlantic and Ole Miss and you can’t understand why he don’t bring in top 5 classes? Really?

So is top 30 or whatever the best that can be done at Ole Miss? If that's the cap, it might be an argument for Lane leveraging his current reputation for a place where he can recruit.

So portal recruitment means nothing? Didn’t Lane just have the #1 ranked portal class? That’s actually more important at the moment because the portal guys are already proven commodities…the high school kids are a roll of the dice…

I think that's a winning formula for Ole Miss... I think he'd do better with HS recruiting AND portal guys at UF. Just my thoughts, I been saying it since last year tho.

“Lane is holding out for a Texas/Georgia type gig or NFL job.”
Lane’s not gonna get a job like that. Florida would be about as good as he would ever do.

Their admins have not held anyone accountable for years. Why start now. Whole athletic dept is a pathetic shell of themselves

We're doing ok in baseball and basketball. Football is where the UAA just decides to cut corners and give a project hire time to "get his system right"

This is far from the truth. The current UF roster based on talent alone on both sides of the ball is a better roster than LSU has. LSU wishes they had the defensive players Florida has. Florida has some really nice young players and I'm not even including Lagway. I feel the media has went out of their way to make the bar low for Napier. If I was a decisionmaker at UF I'd expect at least 8 wins out of this roster. If not, Napier has to go.
What?
The uaa hates football and they hire loser coaches like gaypier
We’re going 2-10 this year and if Napier somehow gets 4 wins he’ll be back another year because the uaa hates football
Lagway will likely never play a down at Florida since he’ll transfer out after he sees how terrible of a coach gaypier is this season

Didn't they have to vacate wins and put on probation? Florida was at best , average in the 80s before Spurrier. Always played in mid level bowl games, like the Tangerine and Blubonnet.

They'll be lucky to reach that level again.

He can do anything and everything he wants at Ole Miss
Except recruit on par with elite schools, have access to premier recruiting markets and have the ability to make competitive NIL offers?
Ole Miss is a great school, but it’s a small market team in what amounts to pro sport that operates without a salary cap.
Florida is a program in a massive state, with huge resources and in theory a better NIL network. Their only current issue is what appears to be dysfunction amongst their boosters and some coaching hires that haven’t panned out.

Another question is, how Ole Miss boosters react after 3 losses? Will the NIL money dry up?
Probably won’t happen. Ole Miss doesn’t rely on a handful of rich boosters, they cast a wide net and get a shite ton of boosters who can give like $2k-$5k to NIL.
That’s how LSU is going to have to do it eventually. They’ve already started trying

Who’s theory? FL NIL seems like the poster-child for dysfunction

You know nothing about UF football.
UF was one of the best teams in the nation in 83, 84, 85. Charley Pell had UF moving in the right direction and had built a monster. They beat up on Miami, USC, Georgia, ran Bo Jackson out of a game and a lot more. UF was violent and physical on both lines of scrimmage during those years. Their only mistake was not being named Alabama, so the SEC punished them for doing what Bama had done for so many years. Pell was a former player of Bryant's and learned all he knew from The Bear. He built up Clemson and left a championship roster there before going to UF. Even during the probation years, UF was pretty respectable, then Spurrier showed up and humiliated the entire conference on a routine basis. During the 80s, UF had a streak of 6 straight over FSU.
Doug Dickey ran UF into the ground in the late 70s and Pell turned it around very quickly. The team got better and Pell sold the boosters on all the things that needed to happen. Facilities got better, stadium was expanded, etc.
