For example, I think of Elvis Presley in his later years. He could have had anything he wanted, but what he truly needed was intangible. He started to gain lots of weight beginning in the late 1960s, and it was like you could watch him slowly begin to die on the inside during the 1970s. His fame put him in mental agony.
I never saw Elvis in real time- I was born in 1997- but his example of struggling with mental health (and becoming overweight as a result) can be applied to so many people today.

Bert should have stayed out of coaching if he knew that he wasn't cut out for it. But his mouth kept getting him into trouble because he bragged about this and that. He had feuds with other coaches and even ADs. He was nauseating on Twitter. The Arkansas job and the SEC humbled him and he wasn't a likeable person to be around.
My doctor isn't a firm believer in BMI but goes by your build instead and makes an educated guess on how much you should weigh. Bert is never going to be slim because his bone structure is on the large side, so getting under 200 pounds is almost impossible to maintain.

He got fat from wins over Ole Miss

He really needs to take a few years off from coaching and get his weight under control. Working for Belichick cannot be a stress free job

almost always stems from mental health problems
From my experience, it’s either poor mental health, lack of access to healthy food, or poor parenting leading to addiction (which could be lumped in with poor mental health).
It really is a sad pandemic in and of itself, and our society’s push of unrealistic body images in marketing, and mass practice of fat shaming both serve to make the problem worse.

That was a 11 win team but Bert didn't take advantage. The only game that Arkansas didn't have a case of winning was against Alabama and yet Arkansas had a lead going into the fourth quarter.
I dunno. If Calvin Ridley doesn’t have that long TD who knows what happens

He’s on the Mark Mangino diet plan.

I don't even think it's so much food that Bielema had a problem controlling as much as it was alcohol. He was rumored to have a serious problem with loving Tito's later on in his tenure here and it's one of the things that pushed Solomon Thomas to sign with Stanford because they could tell he'd been drinking when he showed up to their house for a visit. I'm sure it's one of the reasons Pittman got tired of working for him and left too.

He never seemed to be the same after Pittman left: OL was not the same (Austin Allen took a beating) and he couldn't fix the defense either. 2015 was his chance to really validate the rebuild with a 10 or so win season in retrospect

Really a bizarre season when you look at it, beating OM and TN on the road (when both were good) and losing to TTU and Toledo. Could've been a contender with some better defense, like what y'all had in 2014
One of many WTF season we have had. Beat some great teams! Lose to some complete turds!
With a good defense, like you said, this could have been a team that contended. Instead it was just... one of those Bert years.

Little known fact
Bret actually had a full service Golden Corral at his house out in east Fayetteville, and another one inside his secret apartment on Dickson Street - fully staffed cooks and servers for just him
Truth is stranger than fiction

At the time but not in hindsight. The TTU QB now makes $50 mill/year. Kareem Hunt was the RB for Toledo. We still should have won but that’s was some serious talent on bad teams.

Apparently Mangino is a complete dickhead.

And Matt Campbell was the coach for Toledo. Dak Prescott answered every Allen highlight with one of his own and MSU pulled out a 51-50 win in an incredible game.

Cole Hedlund was the kicker. It was blocked. Someone had a missed block and he kicked it right into a Miss st. player, game over. Bert should have went for it and the chances would have been very good for Brandon Allen to make the first down. It was a game that we were favored and should have won.

I remember the Toledo the game when we had a chance to win but Brandon threw a pass to a wide open Hunter Henry that sailed 10 yards over his head in the end zone.
The Texas Tech game, I remember Brandon threw a pass so under thrown that Jeremy Sprinkle had to stop and reach back and the ball fell right in his fingers, dropped. He was wide open and crowd just gasped in shock.
