The point still remains about the problem with # of common opponents to factor.
Also, in my example, it was 3 teams with the same conf. record. I don't believe that all 3 will share the SAME common opponents.

Why are you still bitshing about this? This is the best college football conference. The commissioner will figure something out.

Hince my plan:

4x4 pods
Each team has 1 perm in each of the other 4 pods. (This prevents any annual games to every other year & allows pods to be made by whatever way you want.)
Pair up pods yearly & teams with best record in each group are the SECCG teams. (Y1 - AB & CD, Y2 - AC & BD, Y3 - AD & BC, Y4/5/6 are Y1/2/3 with host sites flipped)
You play everybody in 3 years/full rotation in 6.

Ex. schedule for Team A1:
Y1 - A2, A3, A4, B1 (B perm. opponent), B2, B3, B4, C1 (C perm. opponent), D1 (D perm. opponent)
Y2 - A2, A3, A4, B1, C1, C2, C3, C4, D1
Y3 - A2, A3, A4, B1, C1, D1, D2, D3, D4
Y4 - Y1 with host sites flipped
Y5 - Y2 with host sites flipped
Y6 - Y3 with host sites flipped

So, instead of the 3-6/6 idea, it's a 6-3/3/3 idea where no annual games are lost & no tie-breakers needed.

Because I feel there are BETTER scheduling formats out there where NO tie-breakers are required & you can achieve the same results in 6 year rotations.
Also, you won't see the same usual teams EACH YEAR in the SECCG.

It’s impossible to have zero common opponents.

Wut? Please explain to me how 7-1 Alabama had any kind of a "valid argument" to play for the SEC in 2011 over 8-0 LSU who had beaten Alabama in Tuscaloosa. (I'll refrain from the, "OMG!!1! You Georgia fans are the dumbest evah!!!11!!")

I think he must be implying an Alabama- LSU title game had there not been divisions.

If not, I agree with your sentiment.

I am of the opinion now that there should be no perms. They need to just rotate (If there are indeed no divisions which would be fine by me). If they somehow decide to go to division bump Auburn and Alabama to the East and it’s fixed. If there are no divisions which I hope is the case then rotate everyone and create equal fair schedules. Don’t like losing Auburn and Tennessee but with this growth it becomes too difficult to keep rivalries and ensure equal scheduling.

Texas wants the 3 perms. We want to play OU, Arkansas, and A$M every year and we don’t want to be the reason great rivalry games in the SEC don’t get played every year.

3 perms maintains and rekindles great traditional rivalry’s. Hopefully the 8 game schedule is just being used as a bargaining chip with ESPN. Can’t wait.

I don't think I got my point across correctly. I do not think in any way whatsoever that bama should've represented the west that year, for the record.

My post was addrssing the other person who was fearful that without divisions you'll have multiple teams wiht the same record that each have a clain to play for the SEC. My point was simply that that has ALWAYS been the case...whether it was pre-92 when there were jsut 10 temas, or from 92 when we had divisions, and now again with no divisions. My exmaple was shitty buyt the point is the same. You're always going to have multiple teams that say they desreve it but jsut like always you have tiebreakers for that reaosn.

Sorry, got distracted by your strange fixation with male genitalia which ironically continues to perpetuate the Aggie stereotype.

But I’ll try to keep up next time.

I think there is a very real chance that it’s an 8 game schedule with 1 permanent opponents because the SEC wants ESPN to pony up more money in the media rights contract by withholding inventory

That’s what I think they are going to do

Move Bama and Auburn to East

MU to West

Keep and 8 game schedule. That’s what most of the schools will vote for.

That’s not on the table dingleberry. There will be no divisions. It will either be a 7-1 (one common opponent every year) or a 6-3 (3 common opponents every year).

In the end this probably happens as it would be the most likely to be agreed upon. According to the Athletic nobody is really on the same page.

They're shouldn't be any permanent opponents. Or just 1. Let everyone play everyone!
