I think yall made a mistake leaving the ACC as well. What good is the increased revenue of the SEC if you can't use it efficiently?

They cannot financially compete with Florida, Georgia, VOLS, Bama, Auburn, LSU (and Aggy).
The state of South Carolina does not have as much talent as Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi.
Their facilities are not as nice as the 7 aforementioned schools.
They do not have the history that tBig 6 have.
They are COCKS

Agreed.

This doesn't make any sense. South Carolina is mediocre, but they've been better than a handful of other programs since '92. SC has also won multiple national championships in other sports.

Is there? There's more talent than ever in Georgia,NC and Florida and SC boarders 2 of those states.
They're competing against Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, UNC and the Florida schools for the talent in those states.
SC has only really proven they can win if they have a master schemer at HC, like Spurrier or Holtz.

Maybe SCar can benefit as Clemson and UGA go outside of the region for recruits more? Get local guys who aren't as highly-rated, but could be hungrier. Would need a staff that's excellent at development, like Iowa's

Any players that Georgia overlook in state are gobbled up by VOLS and Auburn for the most part.
North Carolina is more or less closed off to them as long as Mack is there.
They have no footprint in Tennessee.
They’re fighting a dozen schools for kids in Florida.
They are fukt

Nothing would have stopped it. A lot of native South Carolinians have a natural dislike for folks in North Carolina. And the favoritism shown to UNC, Duke and State in the 1960's was the last straw for us. We aren't a cultural fit in the ACC anyway. We're a football crazy state and South Carolina is culturally closer to Georgia and Alabama than North Carolina and Virginia. Seceding from the ACC is the most South Carolina thing we could've done.

Wouldn't Arkansas take Muschamp if he gets fired at South Carolina? I think so
Why? He has proven he is not a good head coach. He is a very good D Coordinator and there is nothing wrong with that.

Then why didn't Clemson leave?

My theory is we're far too loyal of a fan base.
You’re a weird person if you think this matters.

The right coach would make the Cocks a national power in a couple of seasons. You have the resources and location that every program wants. Need to pony up a $10 million coaching salary to get the right man for the job.

They still aren't in a bad geographic situation. They also have a solid fan base and don't lack for revenue.

Not sure I'd ever call a Holtz "master" schemer but certainly was a very good motivator and organizational guy.

They were supposed to, but their BOT backed out at the last minute. Our administration at the time believed we could thrive as an Independent, as we won the ACC in football in 1969 and in basketball our last year in the conference. Clemson knew better. They knew that their football relevancy was tied to a conference, so they stayed, even though the NC schools viewed our state as the redneck stepchild of the ACC. Clemson's old time fans hate the NC schools as bad as we do.

Our board of trustees which are half Clemson alums and I’m not even joking about that will ensure our eternal failure

Winning matters too! If South Carolina stayed at ACC then they would've been a lot better due to how bad the other team were all that time.

My opinion is our athletic program would rather be more “well rounded”
Than just good at football
Than just good at football
