Last year I was thrilled until the late season collapse but still came away pleased. After they beat Florida and A&M I thought they could squeak ut a tourney bid. Still, NIT was fair for a team being carried by Ret Oballsohard.

I expected this to be a rough year before we would be legit next year, instead there is slight hope of a miracle tourney bid. At least in good position for another NIT.

He has been dynamite recruiting. Future is very bright.

I was thrilled when he was hired and have only grown more enthusiastic.

If kobie Eubanks and Terrance Ferguson were on this team then who knows how this team would've turned out.

As I said in a thread on 4/8/15:

As a Dallas Mavericks fan, and one that doesn't care about what happens in the state of Alabama, I can give you an unbiased assessment of Avery Johnson. He's really bad at in game adjustments and puts too much on his guards. I don't think that will matter if he can recruit, which is far and away the most important characteristic of a coach. Given that he's an NBA guy, he might be able to recruit on that, but it's to Alabama... not exactly a hot bed of college basketball. What are Bama fans expecting here?

I haven't watched the gumps play basketball with Avery as the coach, but I'm assuming the same issues follow him.

Taylor and Norris are the only two Grant players that play significant minutes this year. I'll say Auburn was in worse shape...

This is such a bama walk-on board. Bowl makes a post and gets 3 downvotes. You basically agree with him and get 3 upvotes.

Yup might as well rename this place the bama/lsurantwithalltheotherteamschimingin.com

You should've seen another thread earlier today about basketball RPI. Bama fan OP posted an RPI standing showing Bama several spots ahead of Auburn, but didn't link any source, so he probably made up his RPI to make Bama look better and Auburn worse. Another Auburn fan and I posted links to actual updated RPI standings where Auburn is about 10 spots ahead of Bama. Naturally we got down voted to hell for posting actual facts backed up by sources while the OP Bama fan got flooded with upvotes trying to defend his imaginary rankings with no links or sources

I have posted 10,000 RPI/KenPom/F+ threads the last however many years. Why I would purposely make one up in mid January to manipulate RPI numbers by 10 spots in a thread having nothing specifically to do with Alabama or Auburn.......well, yea.

Yea, that's probably close. However, the college game is so much less sophisticated from the standpoint of the things you listed it's almost hard to really tell.

Why do Bama fans do anything? Why would a grown man poison a plant over football? Why would a grown woman get into a fight in the stands in front of her children? Why murder somebody because your football team lost?

Too much Bama in you, obviously

I don't manipulate numbers to downgrade anybody.

Now, murder because of a football game, well yea. Is that weird?

31-22 Overall / 14-12 (SEC) some pretty good non-conference wins in his first season (#20 Wichita State, #17 Notre Dame, Clemson) but none this year.

He's helped with attendance and excitement but not sure how many non-NCAA tourney seasons Bama fans can take. Next year will be big for Avery Johnson

I would give him an A. He has done the best with what he has had the first 2 years. Grant left him great defensive players that were limited offensively and he has made it work. I cant wait to see Braxton Key on the floor with Petty and Sexton next year.

I'll give him a B+. He's done a very solid job of coaching up a team full of role players. Hopefully, with the talent coming in next year, and further development of those role players, Bama will make a pretty big jump in "goodness" next season. We still have a long shot of making the tourney this year, which is, frankly, not bad in year two.
