I remember he had a great self-deprecating postgame quote after an Outback Bowl loss to Iowa (2008?). Wish I could find a video of it.

A reporter asked why he decided to kick a field goal down by 24 points in the 4th quarter. “Well, I figured 31-10 looks a lot better than 31-7.”

When Spurrier was at Duke and beat North Carolina, he and his team took a photo at midfield. Mack Brown, then at UNC, called Spurrier classless for the gesture.

Spurrier commented "Why? I’ve got a better record on that field than he does."

"Hi,I'm Steve Spurrier. This is my wife Jeri, lil boy Scotty."

The Duke coaching staff and their families came to my parents' house for Christmas dinner before the 1989 All-American Bowl in Birmingham.

Nah, our pretty boy UVA transfer qb went 24 of 25 and blew his doors off. Richt accused him of stealing signs in the postgame interview. Evil Richt apparently.

Was that before Spurrier became the coach that has more victories over UGA than anyone else or after?

“OK boys, let’s go hang 50 on them”

Running out of the tunnel at Tiger Stadium in 1997 just prior to his #1 team losing 28-21.

An underrated one:

Dabo Swinney: "Steve and I are from different planets. He's from Pluto and I'm from Mars"

Spurrier: "Dabo probably thinks there's only, what, nine planets out there. I think I read where Pluto isn't considered one anymore."

It’s easier to win the National Championship than the SEC, ask Nick Saban.

When Nebraska took a knee at the end of the Fiesta Bowl, I wanted to call timeout and go over and tell Tom Osborne to try to score another touchdown, but I chickened out. I’m a competitor. If you have a chance to beat me, beat me as bad as you can

I have 2...both when he quit on his team....that shite is PRICELESS. GOAT quitting coach!

Seriously though, Spurrier was good for CFB and if it wasn't your team he was digging at it was solid gold most of the time. He should be allowed to do more of that in his analysis work....it'd be GREAT....Hated the bastard for about a week before Halloween and about a month after most years but he was great otherwise...
