We could have cost Auburn the 2010 championship. Alabama typically doesn't choke. This felt like a choke.

I mentioned in another thread this game was lost late in the 1st half when Mark Ingram fumbled deep in Auburn territory when the loose ball rolled 20 yards down the sideline and miraculously stayed in bounds. Auburn recovered in the endzone. If Bama scores there, they go to half up 31-0 and Auburn would have been finished. Instead Auburn took the fumble and scored just before half. That changed the entire momentum.

What was the toughest loss your team has had?

1) Texas vs Alabama 2009 - This loss changed the trajectory of the Texas program. Mack went 110-19 from 2000 to 2009, but determined that he needed to completely change the offense based on this game. Texas has been wandering the desert ever since.

2) Texas vs Texas Tech 2008 - If we hadn’t lost this game in the final seconds, Texas plays for the Big 12 Championship instead of Oklahoma. With a win, Texas plays Florida for the NC.

3) Texas vs Colorado in 2001 Big 12 Championship - With a win, Texas plays Miami for a NC. Yeah, nevermind. Maybe it was better we lost this game.

4) #1 Texas loses to #5 Notre Dame in the 1977 Cotton Bowl. Before my time, but it would be another NC.

5) #2Texas loses to #7 Georgia in the 1983 Cotton Bowl. #1 Nebraska lost the Orange Bowl, so winning this game would have been a NC.

1998 Tennessee is the only answer in my lifetime. The Great Shootout with Texas, though, might be the all-time correct one.

2017 NC game vs Clemson- the first time seeing a Saban defense not shut the door at the end with the game on the line.

2019 NC game vs Clemson- it had been over a decade since Bama had its butt kicked like that. Just completely was MIA in that game.

2010 vs Auburn- the above was the only Saban era butt kicking... this would be the only Saban era choke job. Serious voodoo in that game.

Losing to Notre Dame in 74 by 1 point cost y'all both the AP and Coaches. I'm guessing your weren't alive though.

2006 LSU vs Auburn

No reason for that LSU team not to win the NC that year, and this game was the biggest culprit. AU was very good, but not elite that year, and LSU had no business losing that game. Not even worried about the waved off PI call. Shouldn’t have mattered.

For me personally it was 2014 Ohio State. It was my first year ever gambling on the game and I had turned $15 into $600 which I placed on Alabama winning the NC as Ohio State was on their third string qb and had 50/1 or 100/1 odds.

I have indeed read the book; good stuff. But not good enough to wipe away those old terrible memories from 1969…

2010 Iron Bowl. Blowing a 24 point lead to $cam Newton an company sucked. That was worse than the kick six. Kick six overshadows what a great game 2013 was. I respect the 2013 Auburn team. 2010 not so much.

Couldn’t agree more. Bama was beating Aub in 2013 in OT. Kick Six was just dramatic.

The 2010 loss still irritates me when I think about it. Beyond Cam, Fairley, and illegal passes, giving up a 24 pt lead at home was a punch in the gut. Hell, if Ingram just goes down instead of trying to keep his balance long enough for the Aub player to knock the ball out of the back of the end zone from the 15 yard line, Bama probably wins.

2013 loss to FSU for sure. But very close was the Earthquake game. We win that and we play ND for the National Championship.

2013/14 Florida State. Led most of the game only for us to choke it away

That damn game should have been over by halftime.
how can you be up 24-3 late 2nd Q, with FSU 4th and about 5 yds to go, out near midfield, AND NOT BE IN PUNT SAFE!!!???

That stupid special teams mistake is what cost us the game. If we stuff that fake punt, we punch it in again and it's 31-3. Game over. That still pisses me off almost 8 years later.

The 2002 UGA game sucked pretty bad also. I was there in the upper deck, and I don't think I have ever been colder in my life.

I don't really have a problem with the attempt as much as all blockers and no speed on the field to chase down a returner in the event of a short kick. That was the big coaching blunder.

It may have been a blunder hindsight but nobody and I mean nobody saw that coming.

Nobody would have prepared for it either. That shite just doesnt happen

That was a killer watching Colt McCoy go out with the injury..

While I hate to see anyone hurt, Colt going out would not have made a difference
