The majority of the difference boils down to us paying less for a defensive coordinator. I have no idea if the new guy is going to work or not, but paying out of 1.85M for that atrocious defense is both unsustainable and unforgivable.

I really don’t understand A&M fans talking down to OU fans.
A&M has never been a superior program in comparison to OU. One recruiting class does not make you a national power.
My God, Aggie fans are insufferable.

Aggie has a quick, physical D. Some of the slow-developing Briles plays might not work. We’ll see if we can make adjustments. KJ needs to have a great passing day.
I think our D is going to get burned more than once
I love Pittman refuse to totally buy in until we beat Aggie

I have indeed read the book; good stuff. But not good enough to wipe away those old terrible memories from 1969… :banghead:

Did you really just use a HGTV show to hype Waco?
Uhhh no. Merely stating the obvious—that Waco will be fine either way.

Chip and Jo say ‘hi.’….Waco is booming. Space X is expanding; Amazon is here(to name a few)
In short, we’ll be just fine either way.
The only downside: tons of people from Austin and California moving here to escape crazy politics, traffic, and insane housing prices. Which means, of course, our real estate prices are now going through the roof, traffic is worsening, and I’m quite sure that those folks will bring their “progressive values” and start reeking havoc on our way of life

As an Arkansas fan who has lived in Texas for years, I don’t really care which team gets to be called “UT.”
But rest assured that the only folks here in Texas ithat call them “TU” are the Aggies

Krampus, you seem like a good person and you may be correct about LSU and A&M wanted to play on Thanksgiving. But it is very clear that Arkansas did not want this change to occur, and it was done without our consent.
Hopefully you see my point : it is no fun to find out your true place in the pecking order.
Once this calms down, I truly look forward to watching Texas and A&M renew their Thanksgiving game. It was a tradition of my family to watch that game . The sports world is better when that rivalry game is played. And when that happens, I suspect we will get our Friday came back with LSU.
Additionally, I am thrilled to death with the opportunity to pay Tx every year. As an old guy, I have been born and bred to hate the Longhorns

All of the whining about “backroom deals“ seems a bit ironic to me. When A&M came into the conference, they immediately used power and “backroom deals” to displace Arkansas from our traditional Thanksgiving Friday game with LSU. And then we were forced to play Missouri with some type of made up award that nobody cares about.
That really pissed me off because at that time A&M had never consistently beaten Arkansas and was clearly our little brother in pretty much every sport. But money talks, and we got screwed. It was at that point that I had to acknowledge that Ark is a stepchild in the SEC just like we were in the SWC. But I guess that’s the way it is and we can do nothing but move on.
The tables are now turned, Tx and OU have more power than A&M, and now you Ags are on the receiving end of the screwing.
It isn’t fun, is it?

re: Arkansas plays Texas this year but TAMU won’t - they must be scared.

As a lifelong Arkansas fan, I can readily admit I would like to play Texas every.single.year
Why??
My reasons are totally irrational. I hate the Texas Longhorns athletic programs. I hate everything about them. And over the years, there are far too many times they have beaten us and destroyed our dreams of great seasons. So for those very stupid reasons, I would love to play them every year and beat them, and pay them back.
You Texas Ags focus much of your culture on Texas. My God, your damn War Hymn talks about University of Texas. Texas is in your heads from the beginning of your indoctrination of new incoming students. Texas hatred is a part of your cultural DNA.
Yet You Ags speak of honor and culture and integrity. I like what you stand for. But when I see you rationalize why you won’t play Texas, I absolutely believe it is because you are scared they might beat you. And your fragile egos can’t handle that possibility
Texas has beaten Arkansas far too many times over the years( not to mention Bama and TAMU lately.)
And they might beat us this year
And we will still look to play them every chance we get.
I respect TAMU immensely; but with this issue, you seem petty and small. Y’all need to grow your balls back.

IF we catch fire and go to the sweet 16, the answer is yes. If not...no
This program should be a conference contender most years and a national contender when we get hot. We are a notch below that in my opinion. I don’t think we should be Kentucky or another traditional power, but we should be pretty close most years.

Oklahoma State melt thread
2008 last time pre mike Anderson we went to tournament.
1996- last time we went to sweet 16.
we were essentially irrelevant in basketball for decades. stop acting like we should set our expectations to the 90s. it's 2018 and Arkansas basketball doesn't mean shite to anyone outside the state.
The reason we were great in the 70s, 80s and 90s was because of coaching. We haven’t been relevant in years because we haven’t had a great coach in years. We have a good coach now; we will need a great one to go to the next level
I’d like for us to be fantastic again in basketball. But there again, that’s my expectation of my employees too.
Amazingly enough, high expectations and hard work seem to work in life
Many fans appear to be so scared of being totally irrelevant again as a program that they have lost any expectations of being great. They accept being scrappy or fighting hard.
It’s fun to have a basketball team that is feared. Sorry some of you don’t know that feeling

TAMU has tons of money. No doubt about that at all. But you don't have more than UT(the burnt orange bunch in Austin)
And all that money hasn't really done much for Texas lately. Just saying
I honestly don't get the money smack talk coming from the aggies. I really thought y'all were better than that
