Gasoline: 21 cents/gal
House: $8,600
Bread: 9 cents/loaf
Milk: 62 cents/gal
Postage Stamp: 3 cents
Stock Market: 152
Average Annual Salary: $2,600
Minimum Wage: 30 cents per hour
Arkansas’ last victory over Mizzou in the state of Missouri: Priceless

I don't think too many people want to go backwards and live in times prior to the 1960's

It's amazing how primitive things were back in the 40's

Interesting to calculate these values in todays purchasing power. You see some things are cheaper today, some are more expensive. Gas really wasn’t that cheap then

If you could get them. WWII was going on and a lot of things were rationed. My older brother was on a sub in the South Pacific when I was born in August that year.

You misunderstood. It doesn’t cost 9 dollars today.

62 cents in 1944 is the equivalent of 9
dollars today adjusted for inflation and purchasing power

Read my post. 21 cents sounds cheap but it’s the equivalent of paying 3.36 today. So it really wasn’t that cheap back then
