That parts a lie. TN has tons of Bama fans.

This right here. I live right outside Knoxville and half the town is from somewhere else. Mostly New York and California. And frankly, most of them are assholes.

Both have nice and not so nice places to live. I am retired and live in the North Georgia Mountains, so I prefer the mountains. Pressed, I would say Tennessee, but before we moved to Ellijay, we looked at and liked north Alabama at Weiss Lake.

Alabama because they have a coast. Tennessee is overrated unless you’re obsessed with outdoor activities and nature. It’s why so many Californians have moved there. And Nashville still has the vibes of a small hicktown despite having grown in population.
Yeah and College Station is a black hole

Alabama and Oklahoma mirror each other a lot so I'd probably pick Bama. Similar population, politics, football, income, etc. Alabama has way more African Americans then Oklahoma but everything else is pretty close.

Only traveled to Huntsville area and the central part of the of AL. Nice areas throughout but I am a mountain person. I was born in ETN and grew up in WNC. Problem in both of those areas now over the last few decades are all the halfbacks and semi retirees driving the cost of real estate and cost of living up.
Anywhere east of Knoxville I would pick.

North Alabama would be much more like Oklahoma demographics wise

I’ve got nothing against either state. I’ve been to both multiple times. I could live in either, but there are others I’d prefer to live in.
The original question was about choosing between Tennessee and Alabama. I chose Tennessee.
Thats fair. Alabama definitely isnt for everyone and Tennessee is a great state to live in. Alabama really shines in the north and southern parts of the state. The black belt is depressing. Tuscaloosa is fine, its where I live. Bham suburbs is far preferable to living in Atl for me

The only good thing about the state of Alabama is Smith Lake. The crowds at Orange Beach and Gulf Shores are super trashy. There’s some decent golf in Alabama, but nothing like Tennessee. Give me Tennessee all day.

Kentucky and Tennessee are pretty similar as far as states go. That's my pick.

I've lived in Georgia most of my life, but if I had to move to one of those 2 states, it would be Alabama. It's closer to my gulf beachfront place, and from what I read, it has less liberal types moving in the last 5 years. Tennessee has a good chance of going blue. It'll never happen in Alabama.
edit for an example....

Tennessee no state tax

But the sales tax in the counties I have visited is much higher than in the Alabama counties I visit, and the property taxes of friends in Tenn is much higher than property taxes in the county of most of my friends and family in Alabama. That certainly doesn't include Baldwin County.

In my opinion, choosing the state only matters when you’re looking at tax rates. I am much more concerned about the city, county, or community. I am choosing to live in as opposed to the state.
Actually, I just thought of another one, I would not want to live in a blue state or one that could potentially become blue.

TN wins and it ain't particularly close. East TN is beautiful, Nashville (while corny, overpriced, and overrated IMO) is exploding, and COL is super low. The only truly shitty part is Memphis which might as well be Mississippi.
The only thing Alabama has that TN doesn't is Gulf Shores/OB.
