I've spent a lot of time in both and love both states. If I was forced to pick I'd probably pick the Tennessee mountains, but I could be happy living in Alabama as well.

Used to live in TN. I loved living there. Depends on where you go as any other state. But Eastern Tennessee is absolutely beautiful.

I live in the mountains of God’s country, but if I had to move Alabama would be high on my list. I have been there many times and met some of the nicest people. Even while wearing orange in Tuscaloosa on Gameday. We give each other hell but you take sports out of the equation and that mostly disappears.

Alabama the beautiful, for me.
Especially north/north-eastern Alabama, but I do like central Alabama as well. Anywhere north of the blackbelt region before it starts getting super flat and beachy.
But, I admit Tennessee is absolutely beautiful as well, and their temperatures are probably nearer to perfect. I like Alabama, but our summer starts no less than 2 weeks earlier and lingers no less than 2 weeks more.
I would be super happy to live in either state.

Neither is ideal, but Tennessee.

I'd take eastern TN any day.
Except Johnson City. Too many liberals.

Alabama because they have a coast. Tennessee is overrated unless you’re obsessed with outdoor activities and nature. It’s why so many Californians have moved there. And Nashville still has the vibes of a small hicktown despite having grown in population.

Both are much nicer than where I live in Louisiana. I love the hilly terrain of both tenn and Alabama. If I had to pick it would probably be Alabama.

Huntsville is very nice. Most people move there not leave it. I narrowed a moving list from Austin once between Col Springs and Huntsville. Took Huntsville though, I liked them both alot. Huntsville was the better choice.
Now its North Ga, job, and I miss Huntsville. Its what Austin was in 1990 before it grew into a massive traffic choked turd.

Tennessee.
I won't move to a state that has an income tax.

Yea I have some friends that live around there and it’s ok but my friends that live IN Memphis are all trying to get out. Crime has been getting worse and worse
I saw one of my friends post a screenshot from their ring camera of a guy stealing a delivery package of cat litter off their porch at 8 am on a Tuesday morning

I grew up there, from what I hear people are leaving because Huntsville keeps expanding their city limits and it's screwing people over. They are all the way over into Limestone county now because some plant was built. I don't know the full details, I just have a friend who lives nearby constantly complaining about it.
Other cities in the state are doing similar things. Often times driven by alcohol laws and other money grabs. Hell, Cullman just recently tried to annex a place out near Smith Lake that wasn't even connected to the rest of the city just so some dude could have a liquor store near by. I was personally shocked to find out Cullman was even wet now. Back in the day, it was usually a drive down to Warrior(Jefferson county). If someone put a liquor store out there, they would clean up. Tons of corruption and shite going on there.
Out where I grew up specifically, I have watched the city limits change constantly and there is always 1 thing you can count on. A new liquor store will appear right at the edge of the new city limits.
Personally, I hate Huntsville and would never move there. But I don't want to live in any big city, so that's a huge part of it. The road system is terrible, I think they are trying to compete with Atlanta on worst road systems in the world.

Bama. Deep sea fishing, golf and pickling my liver are my goals in retirement, and in that order.

Everyone gets taxed one way or another . Either it’s through a state income tax or property tax.

I live in East Tennessee and wouldn't trade it for anywhere else.
