Maybe ... I doubt it though.

This next class of recruits will have been born in 2000.

Check SC's overall record vs UT's overall record since 2000 and I'm pretty sure Boom and Company will be able to use the "in your lifetime" pitch if Pruitt and his crew try the UT historical route.

Tennessee has got to recruit against Bama, Georgia, Clemson and SC for not only Georgia prospects but North Carolina, South Carolina and even Tennessee prospects.

Pruitt will not have an easy row to hoe recruiting. The long down period is gonna hurt while all these other staffs have a leg up in building relationships.

Pruitt is going to, first of all, have to win with his first class plus what Butch left him ... just as Kirby and mUSChamp have done.

What mUSChamp has done is nothing short of amazing in the eyes of most and he is lining-up to have a Top Ten class a year from now.

They were recruiting better than Muschamp when they had Butch Jones, on the hottest of hot seats... not trying to be a dick or anything, but it would be surprising if Pruitt wasn't able to have UT recruiting better than USC by the time he has his first full cycle. That's not a knock on Muschamp's recruiting ability, simply that it's easier to recruit to Tennessee and Pruitt is a damn good recruiter.

I think his first two years are a rebuild completely.

Third year you start seeing what he is about.

I think respectability. They aren't going to be national title contenders but will compete for the SEC East every few years

I think Gator nailed it except for a few things. He's a recruiting ninja that will push the envelope hard to get the guys he wants. That means there's going to be a lot of negative recruiting going on out there.
Pruitt is not out of the Dabo/Kirby mold of being a likable guy. If he sucks arse the first two years AND rubs people the wrong way, how hard will be the push to remove him?
He's got the penultimate back stabber as his boss who is going to want to get in his business on the field. I just can't see it any other way. Will Phil stay out of his way or will he meddle?
I think his ceiling is SEC East contender most years, winner of the East at least 1 out of 3 years. an SEC title every 5-7 years and a playoff spot.

Interesting points. I think Tenn fans are numb so won't be an issue as long as he shows improvement each year. As for Fatty...well..who the hell knows

Pruitt recently said on his radio show that first thing he'll do is build an "Iron Curtain" around the borders of TN, and stop the exodus of elite prep talent to other programs. Then his program will help his players become "Kings of Reality", and they will compete every day with "Blue Chip Intestinal Fortitude".

All he needs is for the local media to work with him....

They’ll probably leave the pit of misery, but I’m not ready to say that they will be a legit contender in the SEC yet.

Every coach ever has said the same thing. Lock down the state. Not really an amazing, revolutionary idea.

Running a program...something he's never done...requires a whole 'nother skill set. No one knows if he has that.

Lol

Not surprising a Vol fan would laugh. You have to.

You tell me...what evidence is there that Pruitt has the skills to run a program?

Supervising staff...and I mean support staff and everyone in the football building.
Gladhanding boosters and keeping them happy?
Dealing with annoying media types on a daily basis when they start questioning your decisions?
Supervising an offensive coordinator?

When has he ever done any of this?

Yeah, Lance Thompson said the same thing.
