His stock will never be higher then it is right now. I don't think he's in the position to pass up any head coaching vacancy in the SEC. Just my opinion

who knows...Georgia, Mich (If Rich Rod isn't canned), Illinois, Penn St and /or UCLA could all be looking for coaches next year. Nothing is certain for sure, but those are some prime time openings
There's no way in hell he would be hired at Georgia, michigan,Penn St, or UCLA...

Honestly he is very happy at AU and loves AU. He will not leave unless it is a position that he really really wants.
Can't blame him. AU is a kick arse place to coach, he is a master OC, and he is now the highest paid assistant in the country.

I guess he just isn't in any hurry to be a head coach. In a way it makes sense

There is more to it than just the stadium. Now you have to have HUGE work out facilities and offices and football only indoor practice places. Hell look at the new place Tenn is building. Thats where all the money in programs go. Stadium is a big part but ont all of it

Pitt or WVU would be perfect fits for Malzahn and I think he is waiting for one of those.

That is what I think. He is happy and comfortable at AU. He has not shown interest in multiple inquiries over the last year. Vandy is the first offer he really even considered seriously.
So, I do not think it is a big slight to Vandy. Just that he is happy where he is and not in a hurry to leave.

"Something with a more proven route to better jobs? How many coaches have left Vandy and moved on to a bigger program?"
Actually, LSU hired Gerry Dinardo from Vandy and I also believe they hired Curly Hallman from VAndy.... Neither hire worked out well for them

Dinardo yes, Hallman no. Hallman never was at Vandy went from Southern Miss to LSU.
In the last 30 years DiNardo is the only HC at Vandy to leave there and go directly to another HC position in either college or the NFL.

If OM, MSU, USC, or something similar opened up he'd likely go. OM is a job I could see him making the jump to and it is likely to open up in the somewhat near future.

Same could be said for Duke and Spurrier was hired from there.

OM is not going to open soon. Nutt's contract runs thru 2014 and they don't have the $$ for a buyout and hiring another coach.

Does Malzahn know how to recruit?
Seriously, I've never heard anything about his recruiting. He's only been in the college ranks for 5 years.

Vandy is in the same boat as ND, to compete with the rest of the league they are going to have to lower their admission requirements. 90% of the SEC players would not get in Vandy.

If Clempson doesn't improve next year, Dabo might be on his way out. Malzahn would tear it up there, imo.
There will be jobs available for him in the next couple years.
Possible bigger openings after next year with little to no improvement:
Clempson, UCLA, Pitt, uga, Mitchigan, W Va - if Stewart doesn't retire this year.
And I just don't see Spurrier being at S Car for more than another year or two. I might be wrong, but he's 65 now. I just don't see him coaching much longer.

True, but the same thing can be said about many of Alabama's assistant coaches and most SEC assistants. It's funny how Auburn fans are always talking about Alabama coaches not being able to get out of "Tuscaloser" fast enough yet Saban's Alabama staff has had less turnover than his staff at other schools.

Almost as funny as the fact that 22 out of your last 25 posts have been about Auburn. Go ahead and count, I did.
