Interesting how they left that entire game out of the 30 for 30. Pussies

They left out the Sugar Vols and the 1993 Sugar Bowl when we dick slapped them around.

They even showed the 1990 Sugar Bowl, made it look like it was a blowout and had Lamar Thomas talking about how our player told him how they were better than us and he smugly said "I know".

I mean : Alabama, Sugar Bowl, Lamar Thomas...........and that's what I get? GTFO.

We killed Miami. We ended the dynasty. They were about to win back-to-back titles, blah blah blah. We beat their brains in and they didn't win anything meaningful again during that era. But that would show boring old Alabama as the team that ended the great, fun Miami run..........and that wouldn't be a fun ending for the 30 for 30. So they just skipped it and went straight to probation and stuff.

Pre-1993 Sugar Bowl
1986 : 11-1, #2
1987 : 12-0, National Champs
1988 : 11-1, #2
1989 : 11-1, National Champs
1990 : 10-2, #3
1991 : 12-0, National Champs

1992 : 11-1, CRUSHED BY ALABAMA

Post-1993 Sugar Bowl
1993 : 9-3, #15
1994 : 10-2, #6
1995 : 8-3, #20
1996 : 9-3, #14
1997 : 5-6, UR

Miami probably would have been the outright MNC that year.

Quirks of the polls back then. Had Miami beaten Tennessee the best they could have hoped for was a split. OU was already ahead of Miami in the polls.

Honestly with that defense Tennessee had that year and the way they just obliterated Miami, the Vols had a legit reason to say they were #1 at 9-1-2.

Since when can "Greatest of all Time" be plural? You are either the greatest, or you aren't.

If we are being technical you can't be the "Greatest of All Time" of an era of time.

Kind of like you guys officially claim 1940 (Dunkel, Williamson), 1950 (Dunkel) and 1967 (Litkenhous) hu? Why not tack on another one.

This is the crazy thing to me. When I think UGA glory days, I think Dooley. Richt's winning percentage was higher (74.5% - 72.3%), so y'all naturally fired the guy. This isn't meant to be a dig at UGA - the same unrealistic expectations are everywhere.

Well, lets look into this--its 3:30 on Friday and I've quoted my life away all week --

Tennessee moved from #16 to #8 in two weeks late in the season--with wins over 5-6 Kentucky (42-0 in Lexington one week after UK lost in Gainesville, 15-13) and 3-7-1 Vanderbilt, which shows the voters had underrated them.

They did lose 17-10 in Gainesville to Florida, who defeated Miami 35-23 in Miami and LSU 20-0 in Baton Rouge.

Tennessee and UCLA tied in the season opener, 26-26.UCLA would go on to clobber Iowa in the Rose Bowl who was ranked #2 when their season ended, yet dropped two weeks in a row to 4th before the bowls.

Tennessee creamed then #1 Auburn, 38-20 in Game 2. Auburn was still ranked #7 going into the Iron Bowl with Van Tiffin.

Tennessee and Georgia Tech tied, 6-6. Tech finished 9-2-1 and #20. But they beat Georgia in the regular season finale a few weeks after Georgia beat then #1 Florida.

Tennessee beat Alabama, 16-14 who wound up #13. Alabama beat said Georgia team, Auburn and Southern Cal in the Aloha Bowl, a Trojan team that beat UCLA.

Two other seemingly wins have shocking "ties." UT crushed Rutgers, 40-0 and Rutgers somehow tied Florida 28-28. In the season finale, Tennessee crushed Vanderbilt 30-0. Vandy and Georgia had tied 13-13 as a makable VU fg fell short at the horn.

Don't. One day this summer I'll bore y'all with how the 1967 season played out with the various teams and how the polls worked.

The problem with Richt was not his overall resume... it was the trajectory of Georgia football during his tenure. Just look at where we finished ranked each season:

2001: #22
2002: #3
2003: #7
2004: #7
2005: #10
2006: #23
2007: #2
2008: #13
2009: -
2010: -
2011: #19
2012: #5
2013: -
2014: #9
2015: -

There is no excuse for Georgia to not be ranked in the Top 25 at the end of a season. Heck even Jim Donnan managed to do that most years

1996: -
1997: #10
1998: #14
1999: #16
2000: #20

Richt finally brought us the SEC Championship that Donnan could never win. The only problem is after winning 2 SEC Championships in four seasons, he proceeded to go another decade without one, and failed to produce a ranked team in the final poll in 4 of his last 7 years.

Eventually its time to pull the plug.

Beat Memphis State (6-5), Boston College (3-8), Mississippi (5-6), Kentucky (5-6), Vanderbilt (3-8). One team, Memphis State , with a winning record.

Typical November ut schedule. Would be virtually impossible for them to ever lose 10 straight games.

Every year we play our division, Bama, a rotating cross-divison, and 4 OOCs. Just like everyone else. not our fault the way it works out.

At 0-0 (or 1-1 if you count the spring game), he's still better than Ears.

WTF was Alabama doing in the mid 50's before they fielded one of the greatest college football teams in history in '61?
They were not paying players in the 50's is my guess. When moma calls and she has dollars in her hands, it is time to listen
