Agreed. For me, a blowout is when I don't expect to win anymore. Even if I didn't expect to win, I know when it's out of the realm of possibility.

When we give up a touchdown and I just laugh, that's a blowout for me.

He probably meant in the context of the game/score. You were down by 20 and scored a TD on the last time you touched the ball to make it down by 14.

Bama doesn't blow people out on the scoreboard very often. Saban shuts it down as soon as he can if that increases the likelihood of winning the game. Running the ball the entire 4th quarter is fine by us.

I totally agree, I'll be the first to say we go whipped. I'm just sayin if we get the ball back after the score, we could be back in the game. Not likely the way your D has played all game but I still can't consider it garbage time.

I understand why Les didn't go for the onside kick with 9:18 to go because hardly no coach would but that would have been an ideal time to pull it off, don't you think? I believe Bama had the regular coverage unit in.

3 TD's or more is definitely a blowout.

Eh, maybe. I really don't think it is score specific.

For us (just using because I can remember), I'm thinking Auburn-Missouri 2013 for example, or even Iron Bowl last year (had AU not put up another TD at the end). Neither of those would have been 3 tds, but 17-18 is close enough I think. If those had been 21 instead, I still wouldn't think of that type of game as a blowout.

Meanwhile, Auburn's 24-6 win over UGA in 2004 was a blowout, while the 26-10 win over A&M last week was just cruising to a win. The AU UGA game in 2010 (49-31) I wouldn't classify as one. A ten point win would almost never be thought of as a blowout, but I'm betting Bama fans would say the 2005 Iron Bowl certainly had the feel of one.

double the score of the opposing team.

starts with 30+ to 15 hits diminishing returns at 60+ to 30.

lol, idk.

The final score is usually an indicator, but not always.

It's not uncommon for a competitive game to end 14-17'ish points and look worse than it was.

The opposite can happen, a team can add a few scores in a garbage time to make a blowout look closer than it was.

If you just wanna look at final score, I don't consider a game a "blowout" unless it's at least 17 or more.

That's a 3 score game.

21 points or more feels about right.

I don't really think there are many blowouts in the SEC. A blowout to me is when the game gets so out of hand early that the game is never in doubt, and one team can possibly be accused of running up the score. Florida in the Spurrier years had a lot of blowouts. The Alabama - A&M game last year was a blowout.

There are a lot of arse kickings though. Like Bama - LSU last week. Even when we beat Georgia 35-7 to a couple years ago, I don't think that was a blowout, it was just a thorough beating.

When you have absolutely no chance of winning entering the fourth basically. I think it is overused. Bama beat down LSU. Wasn't a blowout. Uf over Ole Miss may have been.

To me "blowout" means one team has way more points than the other. To qualify I think it needs to be a minimum of about 21 point differential.

That is different than one team dominating another. A team can dominate a team by controlling the line of scrimmage, getting way more yards, making it seem like the outcome is not really in question, etc, even when there is a fairly close score.

I would say at least two touchdowns if the game is never close like a team leading from kickoff to final buzzer and winning by a few touchdowns. Especially if they are able to play some backups in there.

21-29 to 0
30s to 1-9
40s to 10-19
50s to 20s
60s to 20s

You can't let the other team score over 20. Of course, score is only half the factor. Blowouts have to look like blowouts. Running up the score late doesn't mean much

I guess it depends on circumstance really.

Hell, Oklahoma over Aggy, 77-0 is a complete blowout.

Because of how great OU was for the most part in 2003, a 14-21 loss to LSU, I considered a blowout. OU had chances but LSU controlled game from start to finish.

USC over Oklahoma by 36 in NC game.
