It gave the USA Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, California, etc as a result of the Mexican American wars. Mostly people from the South fought in those wars. So only the 2 biggest tax revenue producing states in the country.

That's BS. The Mexicans let Texans in because they thought the Comanches would murder them all; instead of murdering Mexicans. They wanted a buffer between themselves and the Comanches.

They served their own "citizens" up to die, and it didn't work out like they planned..Texans had every right to take that state...

How do you leave out Faulkner when you make a list like this?

Enabled men to walk on the moon.

I got into this with an idiot co worker one day who said the south has nothing. I asked him then why did the north send hundreds of thousands to die to keep the south from forming its own country. He stared at me. I said the north needs the south way more than we need you. Warm weather ports, longer growing season, the mouth of the miss river, oil along the gulf , the north would be fricked and they knew/know it.

And manners. It’s a shame how it’s a shame that it’s surprising to hear younger folks use them. We’d be surprised how much difference it makes when we treat other people with respect.

After reading this thread, I hear NASA is planning to relocate the NASA Mission Control and entire Space Center to St. Louis and the Marshall Space Flight Center from Bama to some place "real north" like Cleveland.
