What is the SEC looking for in expansion?

Is it all about football, or will they consider other sports? Is academics a major consideration? I would love to sit in a room with the SEC ADs, presidents, and commissioners when they discuss this.

I think the SEC will add 2 more teams over the next 5 years.
We have added 4 teams west of the Mississippi so I'm thinking the balance will be east.
We will likely add teams from states not already represented in the SEC.
Teams in North Carolina and Virginia would be logical choices.

In the end it is all about what Texas AD wants.

I don't think the SEC is looking to expand.
What they'd be looking for is more money for the existing teams. If bringing in new teams means more money for the current members, the SEC will probably be okay with expanding. If it doesn't, they won't.
Since football is 90-95% of the money, it would primarily only be about football.
Unless the landscape changes, I think the only team that would lure the SEC into expanding is Notre Dame. No other team outside of the SEC or Big 10 would bring in enough money right now to make expansion worthwhile. That may change down the road, but right now I think expansion for the SEC is on hold.

Not Cincinnati.

Add an HBCU

No expansion needed. 16 teams is enough.

This is how delusional Texas fans are. They think the whole world revolves around them.
But in reality nobody cares about them and dreads going to liberal cesspool Austin

It’s very obvious if you look at the 6 schools added since 1992.
Must be a large state school.
Must be in a border state to existing SEC schools.
Must increase the footprint of the SEC.
Based on that criteria, there’s only a few schools that make sense.
No Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and possibly Florida State and Clemson.
Those are the only schools that have any chance to be added unless by some miracle Notre Dame wanted in. They’d be the only exception to the rule.

I would say, since we've proven in fb for a while, it'll be focus on other sports.

Notre Dame is not southeastern or even southern. NC State could also be a possibility. They plus Virginia Tech, Jim Sweet University and Free Shoes University would be good cultural fits.
UNC won't join because as soon as they do, they will actually get placed on probation for cheating.
