Yea I know I lived in MN and frequently sent to N Dakota and it was pretty bad. Beautiful in some areas, but I couldn't imagine living there year round. There isn't anything to do.

Atleast I can say I want to go to New Orleans for a few days for a Bachelor party or something.
I can honestly say I'd never wanna go to Arkansas or one of those Dakotas. (the one without Mt Rushmore)

Amen. I have visited every state in the country except NH and can say without a doubt that WV is simply the butthole of the Earth. Places in Bangladesh are better than WV.

It's such silliness. North Dakota is ranked high because it has a tiny population and the shale boom (which is shrinking). They overpaid people to relocate there because of those reasons you noted, so their pay/person and all of the metrics that flow from that are much higher.
I'm sure North Dakota is fine, but the idea that it's one of the Top 15 "states" in America is laughable.
