In 1972 Richard Nixon won the straw poll at Vanderbilt. Not sure we are the most liberal anything but if you go by the political board of this site perhaps we qualify. Doesn't take much to get a "liberal" moniker - not a tea party "moran" then your liberal.

So the general consensus is that Mizzou is ranked #2, with Florida and Vandy flip-flopping between #1 & #3.

No, folks that have actually been there know it is very conservative group that appears to outsiders to be more liberal than it actually is. Lots of multigenerational Vandy alums who are very Republican. They just are not as religious right as some other SEC schools.

You'd have to define what you mean by conservative. In terms of economically conservative, Vanderbilt would be the most. You think we rich folk like paying more taxes?

Nah. USC is pretty mixed. There is no way we are most conservative. The school is in one of the bluest counties in the state also, so the surrounding population leans liberal.
The Mississippi schools are probably the most conservative.

LSU grad here. White and moderate. Voted for Obama both times and have no regrets.
LSU actually leans slightly left these days.
