quote:Rose, Cotton, Sugar and Orange were nationally televised but others were regional. I can remember the 63 Liberty Bow, played in Philadelphia back then, I watched MSU beat NC State. I am thinking 65-66 I remember watching my first color tv game at a neighbor's house. It was Alabama/Ole Miss.
a rare treat in those days as very few teams got nationally televised more than once per year.

Missouri curb stomped Alabama in Birmingham in 1975. First game of the year. Alabama went 11-1. Totally unexpected. Watched it at a friend's apartment - on a Monday night?????

The first LSU game I remember was late 70's, early 80s, against Auburn. I must have been 4-6 years old.
I remember my dad throwing me onto his shoulders as we flowed with the crowd towards the stadium. I didn't understand drunkness at the time, but I remember a guy with a cherry-red tongue screaming "Goooooooooooo, Tigaaaahhhhhhs" really freaking loud right next to us walking in. I was intimidated by it. It is my go-to yell to this day.
As for the game, everybody stood up on all the big plays, so I could never see what happened. I remember leaving the stadium embarrassed to ask, "Dad, did we win?"
Yes, we did. Gooooooooo Tigaaaaaahhhhhs!

1971 iron bowl. Heisman winner pat Sullivan for the aubies and we had johnny musso play with a broken foot and ran for 170 yds. Bama won 31-7 and played nebraska for the national title. We still haven't tackled johnny Rodgers. We got blown the frick OUT.

Bert Jones in a heavy rain?
Was there and it rained a lot. Bert played '70-'72. Our QB's in '79 were Steve Ensminger (now our TE coach) and the late David Woodley (started a Super Bowl for the Dolphins in '82 I think).
Bama's QB was Steadman Shealy (sp?). The game itself was more lopsided than reflected on the scoreboard. Rain was a big neutralizer.

First football game I remember watching was the 1980 or 81 Super Bowl between the Oakland Raiders, Qb'd by Jim Plunkett, and the Philadelphia Eagles, QB'd by Ron Jaworski.

First game ever 1989 49'ers vs. Bengals in Super Bowl, John Taylor catches GW TD from Montana.
First game remember attending LSU vs. Rice in a day game probably late 80's early 90's.
First game I remember attending when I knew what was going on, Oct 26, 1991 LSU vs. #1 FSU in a torrential downpour in Tiger Stadium. LSU had the #1 team on the ropes and with the lead at the half but FSU came back and won it in the end. Although that game was very memorable, one of the most memorable events happened in the car ride home where my clothes were soaking wet so my father forced me to ride home in my underwear wrapped in a towel. The roads were flooding so we pulled into a store parking lot for a few hours where we listened to Jack Buck say "We will see you tomorrow night!" following Kirby Puckett's 11th inning home run in game 6 of the World Series vs the Braves.

I remember my dad watching an Alabama-Tennessee game when I was around 5 years old (1988) and I was pissed because I wanted to go to Showbiz Pizza and we couldn't go till the game was over. I hated Tennessee and Alabama equally that day.

What is the first football game that you can remember?
Eclectic Academy vs Autauga Academy, 7-8 year old pee wee league, 1974. I got the wind knocked out of me and thought I was dying. I only have one other game memory of that entire year, and it is of a good friend of mine getting ejected for telling a ref "you're full of shait".

I very vaguely remember watching the A&M/Texas game in 1993 and the Super Bowl in January of 1994 when I was 5. The first game I remember well was the 1994 NFC Championship game between Dallas and San Francisco.
First game I went to was A&M/OU in '96.

My dad took me and my older brother to the '94 Georgia game, but I don't remember it at all. The first game I remember is North Texas back in like 02.
