The Mahaffeys are Scottish descendants of the Clan MacFie. In Scottish history, the MacFie clan is a "broken clan."
"The clan served under the Lords of the Isles—descendants of Somerled, who ruled the Hebrides from the 14th century to the late 16th century. Following the forfeiture of the Lordship of the Isles in the late 15th century, the clan still attached itself to powerful Macdonalds.
In the early 17th century the last chief of the MacFie clan was executed as Colonsay was lost to the control of a Macdonald. Without a chief of their own to control their home lands, the clan was considered a leaderless 'broken clan'."

What about the collapse of United Companies? One article called it "The Enron of Baton Rouge."

And we're gonna have to pay a toll for a new I-10 bridge because, well, the government just doesn't have a billion $ for an interstate bridge. Sorry, y'all.

They need to take out that god-awful Lockett building, and build the new library there in the same theme of the rest of the quad. That would place it right next to Hill Memorial Library.
It's the perfect spot for the main library once Middleton is out of the way.

I recently visited Baton Rouge, and stayed at a downtown hotel.
I hope downtown makes a comeback. It's really not a bad downtown to work with. Very walkable, with good things to do and see.
Don't know if that's a priority, but congrats to the people of Baton Rouge for making a change. :usa:

Admiral James Stockdale. Ross Perot's VP pick.
He's remembered for saying, "Who am I? Why am I here?" in his opening remarks at the 1992 VP debate, on stage with Al Gore and Dan Quayle.

I was there. Prolly my favorite concert. It was a great atmosphere and night for an outdoor rock concert at Tad Gormley. Especially since seeing PJ live was a rarity at that time because of the tour cancelation. I remember joking with my buddy on the ride home, "Best 4th of July I ever had." :dude:
