Very close to rock bottom. The only good thing is that the fall wasn't very far.

C: we haven't played anybody yet to know how good or bad this team is. A "C" is about as fair as you can get right now with this team. A grade neither bad or good.

So... a story from one of my teachers when I was in a Catholic High School in Chicago. Though, for the record, its not about the school I went to. This is back from Catholic schools in the 40's were a tad bit less enlightened.

When the teacher handed out grades for a test, and there were only a few tests all year, the Principal of the school was the one that would hand out the results.

And he would call them up by order. An A got you a handshake and being told that not only the school and your parents were glad but God himself was pleased.

A B got you a handshake and being told that you did good... but you can do better and everyone expects big things from you.

There were no handshakes for a C. You got a brief talk that you were not living up to your potential and a reminder that God was watching you and disappointed.

For a D... well there was a long discussion about how you had failed God, your family, and yourself. All told, of course, in front of the class.

For an F. The Principal, a big burly fellow, would take off his thick leather belt and then throw the tests down on the ground. You were to come up, find your test and hold it up for everyone to see. The entire time this was going on he'd be whaling on your with the belt and screaming that Jesus is crying tears of blood because of what you did.

I fear that there would be belt swinging in our case.

Jake was fine. He got some bad blocking from one player in particular on blitz pickup and I think a RB or two missed one as well.

I agree that Fromm was fine. There may have been 3 snaps that he would want to do over. But over the course of a game, that isn't too bad.

Overall team grade is A-.

We need to do better on 3rd downs offensively.

Defensively, we are good/not great at ILB. And we need more push in the interior line against the pass. Everything else is near all sec levels.

B-. Good job against number 8, but WTF was last week? I know. A shutout is impressive against anyone, and we had a shitload of people out on suspensions and injury, but WTF. We looked like garbage.

Too early to tell with a new coach, new offensive scheme, new DC with new defensive scheme (that usually takes half a season to gel) and Fitzgerald played his first game and looked very rusty. Was 15% below his avg passing. So for now, I grade us a big fat "?"
