...and what were the make-up games?

Arkansas was scheduled to play North Texas 9/15 which was canceled. The make-up game was Weber State 10/6.

LSU v Auburn was moved to December. Remember it well because the winner was off to Atlanta...our first trip there; and it was a magical trip to Atlanta that year.

Our game against Nebraska was supposed to be played that weekend but was pushed back to 9/29.

Cardinals: They were in Milwaukee to play the Brewers in the evening, but was pushed to 9/17. Jack Buck read his poem that night.

STL Rams: They were going to play Atlanta at home. That would later be a week 17 game with Michael Vick making his NFL debut.

UF/UT it was moved to last game after FSU where Darnell Docket dirty azz twisted Earnest Graham ankle up in the pile. Smh sucks too cuz we had that O that beat Saban 45-15. Not to mention Graham and Gillispie were a sick duo to go with Jabar Gaffney Reche Caldwell and Taylor Jacobs.

Travis henry ran wild on UF. Our bell sat on the bench smh but they deserved it

Bama/USM if memory serves correct. Ended up playing in November in heavy rain/wind.

Henry had been drafted by the Bills the previous spring. It was the other Travis, Travis Stephens that has some monster runs.

Knowing how in that era, the Vols always had better success later in the season, it was a break for us that game was moved to December. No way we win that game if it was in September. We had just struggled to beat a bad Arkansas team.

Then we blew our good fortune in the game that was the beginning of the UT downfall. Lost the SECCG to LSU and lost a shot at a natty.

UGA vs Houston. First game I was scheduled to dress out as a freshman preferred walk-on. Was played in December instead.

One of our players got badly hurt in that rather pointless game.

Funny Story. I tried to get in a professional fishing tournament (Bassmaster) in September 2001 on the Hudson river in New York. I did not get in. The tournament was then cancelled due to the towers being hit and rescheduled for December at Lake Tahoe in Florida. The day before the tournament, I got a phone call asking if I could come down and fish because someone dropped out.

I packed a few things and in two hours was headed down I75 to Orlando.

Fished the event 3 days and won a boat.

No one played that weekend and it made for the first ever SEC Championship semifinal weekend. The last weekend became Auburn at LSU and Tennessee at Florida with which ever teams winning those matchups meeting in the SEC championship the next weekend.

I believe MSU vs South Carolina was the first game after 9-11. Had a huge American flag on the field. Very cool and unifying. South Carolina won 16-14

This was the first football game in the country post 9/11, and the beginning of the end of Jackie Sherrill.

Yep. I bought a hat at the sec championship game. It still had the original date, Dec. 1, on it. That was the date of the rescheduled LSU-Auburn game

Probably the best VOLS game I’ve ever watched.

LSU v Auburn was moved to December.

Now I remember why I was so cold kicking side view mirrors off cars on the way out.
