sorry bro, head coach gets to claim credit if he has to take the bad.

quote:Les was the SEC's crazy uncle that everyone loved.
Les prior to Jarrett Lee was a pretty good coach. After Jarrett Lee all he decided he wanted to play 3 yards and a cloud of dust football in the spread era and relied on defense. He just ran out of defense in the end to keep the games close and win.
He was also stubborn as a mule, that stubbornness ultimately ended his time at LSU. For an "oline guy", some of his olines didn't play tough enough for his offensive scheme. He wouldn't relinquish the offensive game-planning to his OC's and his offensive creativity became weak and stagnant.

Best 12 years of any LSU era. Miles never lost a regular season OOC to anyone for 12 years
Yes, but I do not expect Kelly's teams to consistently lose or play down to Arkansas and Ole Miss every year like Les's teams did. We had an inexcusable amount of close games and losses to those two teams during his tenure.

Not bad for a buffoon.
I guess you do miss Les and his 5 straight losses to Bama.

That 17.1 Million tab is on Woodward ! Shoulda never happened ! He deserved a raise but not that golden parachute !

Yes, but he also brought in Joe Brady and Joe Burrow. Brady was essential in updating the overall offensive scheme
The longer time goes, the more it looks as if Joe Brady was given way too much credit for 2019.
I've talked to players and coaches from that year who all seem to agree that he was a good coach but his impact was drastically overblown.
Most have said his biggest impact was actually coaching the receivers and helping them take the next step in their development.

Not as much as Cholly Mac.
Try to embrace your football history in this rivalry. It's just a tradition at this point.

I said for 12 years. Not never. In fact, the Wisconsin game in Lambeau was the first and only. And it probably got him fired. The barner game was just a convenient time.

A very rich Buffon nonetheless.

He should've given 16 of the 17 million to Burrow. Burrow's the one that earned it, imo.

His comments have been surprising. I didn't think he was half the head coach that Miles had been
I've been watching Swamp Kings this week. Say what you want about Miles, but he had some hard nosed defenses. So did UF and several other SEC teams at the time.
Orgeron is an idiot and a grifter. Recruiting was the only thing he did well.

He sucked and our teams just out talented most. Except for the bama games and teams with huge dlines (Bama, UGA for example) he could just use a power running game to overwelm teams.
His gameplan against bama in the BCS title game was atrocious...he basically went with the same gp we used in the game of the century a month earlier. Also ran Fournette into the strength of bama in Tuscaloosa when Henry went off and won the Heisman.
His offensive philosophy sucked but he did not "suck" as a HC. You don't play for two national championships if you suck as a HC. He was eccentric and, as it turns out, a big pervert, but his teams were tough and he instilled that toughness in them. Remember the Brandon Taylor interview. His practices were so grueling they didn't know who was going to make it to the games from week to week. Those days are long gone.

It's pretty sad.. For a while, O was a the face of LSU since he was such a unique character. I always enjoyed his press conferences and the way he addressed the media

Kelly’s first year was not much better than Os and worse than Miles first season at LSU

Oh yeah, I have no doubt the 2019 team was all Burrow and the WRs.
Brady just came at the right place at the right time.

Kelly inherited 39 scholarship players. Miles inherited a Ferrari from Saban.
