Do you realize that there has NEVER been a defensive player to win the Heisman....NEVER!

Never been a straight defensive player who didn't do stuff on special teams or offense, but Charles Woodson was obviously primarily a CB.

Didn't he also have a couple INTs? Or am I misremembering?

I feel like he destroyed iowa or missouri all by himself.

Against Missouri he had 1 sack, 1 TFL, 1 INT, 2 pass breakups and 1 forced fumble.

Against Kansas State he had 1.5 sacks, 1.5 TFLs, 2 pass breakups

And then of course he had the all-time Texas game - 4.5 sacks, 6 TFLs, 12 tackles.

He had a great year that year, but the Texas game was an all-time game on the biggest stage and it really propelled the whole thing. Before that game, he was having a "standard" All-American type season.

I watched the Missouri game, he absolutely dominated. Maybe didn't show up on the stat line as much but it stuck out more to me.

I think Nebraska's offense absolutely sucking was a part of it.

Sam williams has similar stats and we play a three line scheme.

He blew up everyone they played. Destroyed everything at the point of attack all season long. And I mean, that Missouri stat line is pretty incredible - pass break ups (by a DT), an INT, TFLs, Sacks.

Sam Williams is a great pass rusher - he has 10.5 sacks and 11 TFLs. He disrupts the pass game. He has 0.5 non-sack TFLs.

Will Anderson is a great pass rusher and a great run stopper - he had 12.5 sacks and 23 TFLs. He has 10.5 non-sack TFLs (he also leads the nation in sacks).

It's a silly comparison. There are VERY few guys who excel in both pass and run game disruption.

Will it take a bad game from Bryce where it’s evident that Will kept us in the game?

Yes. I would say if Bryce Young throws 3-4 INTs and fumbles 3-4 times in the SECCG, that would probably sew it up for Will Anderson.

Make it so, #1.

True, but he had four TDs on kick returns while averaging over 21 yards per catch as a receiver.

Agree - without the flashy ST/WR stuff he doesn't win that award.

Chase Young in 2019 finished 4th

16.5 sacks, 21 TFL, 46 tackles, 7 forced fumbles

Granted there is no Joe Burrow this season of course, but I think it would take stats better than that to win it. 20+ sacks maybe? I don't even know

Edit: I think to win an award like the Heisman you have to have INTs and forced/recovered fumbles. A ton of that is luck on when you get to the QB and what QBs you play. If he forced 3 fumbles and ran them back to the house for example

No chance he's the best defender in the country, and the best defender in the country never wins the Heisman. Homeboy was non-existent in the loss to A&M - totally exposed. Yo0u people are retarded - like somehow you deserve all the awards every year. God I cant wait to whip your arse.

The pace he is currently at gives him a shot at 20+

Last 4 games
- 9.5 sacks (2.38 per)
- 12 TFLs (3.0 per)

If he gets 2 sacks and 3 TFLs per game over the last 4 he'd end the year at 20.5 sacks and 35 TFLs. If he plays a major role in the SECCG that might be enough to get him into that 3rd/4th slot and give him a shot in 2022.

But he has no shot to win it unless he just has an insane run that even eclipses what he's done recently and just single handedly dominates the SECCG.

Seriously, WTF are you talking about? Do you actually watch sports or are you just an angry stompy meth head?

Homeboy was literally double and triple teamed the entire game against A&M.

Sorry I edited. I think to win the award he needs to force a ton of fumbles and get a couple INTs. I think Young is a good gauge on what a rush end/LB would need in those categories to get close.

Young had 7 FF and Anderson has 0. That could be a key stat (I have no clue but that impacts a game more than just a sack I would say)
