But LSU did have those struggles where as Bama didn't and that's a testament to his coaching. Plus, you don't know for certain that if LSU hadn't had those "struggles" that it would have changed things that much. Look at LSU this year be Ole Miss. Bama doesnt lose those games .

Ummm wtf? If you win a BCS NC it's a "beautiful" season......

Thing is, Bama has struggled on offense too. Prior to last year -- the arrival of Nussmeier -- Bama and LSU were hardly any different in terms of offense. They had top-notch runners (Coffee, Ingram, Richardson, Lacey, and now Yeldon+Drake) and a well-developed (and huge) run-blocking o-line, but the offense overall was pedestrian. The great receivers were very good, but nowhere near what they would have been like under a more dynamic offensive scheme.
What Saban really does -- in addition to all the obvious factors like recruiting a particular type of football player, imposing a rigid discipline (Saban teams typically don't make many stupid mistakes, so you have to beat them honestly) and gameplan the hell out of opponents -- is run a highly sophisticated and complex defense. The only one that has been able to compare in recent years has been LSU, and Chavis is pretty damned good but he's not as good as Saban in developing and disguising defenses. Even UF under Strong's guidance relied more on top talent and speed than on the level of sophistication found in Saban defenses.
Really, the simplest answers are sometimes the best. Saban is a workaholic, great evaluator and recruiter and developer, yadda yadda, all those are true. But what has given him the edge is simply being the best in the country at putting a great defense on the field. There's no magic secret to his success, just straight-up talent for that sort of coaching. It's why his success has grown as his career progressed, because coaching and development are things any coach can improve at with time and experience.

He leaves nothing to chance. He has his finger on everything. I took my son to the Alabama football camp this summer. One of the workers was talking to a few of us Dads. She said that they work all year on the camp. He has input on every little detail of the camp. And this wasn't the star studded camp. He was there all day everyday. Even working with the 8-10 year olds. He hollered at a couple of them to get off their helmet and pay attention.
If the Nick Saban mentality was in place at US Soccer we'd be bringing home World Cups by the next cycle.

Yeah...our offense was shite before 2012.

By far, Saban is the best coach in all of college football, and Alabama has been the best program from 2008-2012 but let's not act like Alabama is this untouchable juggernaut.
I like your championships argument; the missing component to this dynasty is dominance of LSU. Alabama hasn't gained enough separation from LSU.

Nobody sane has ever said Alabama is an untouchable juggernaut.
That's what insecure fanbases hear but that's not what's being said.
People are just acknowledging that Alabama has been a dominant program the last 5 years while playing in the SEC which has been in a period the strongest it's ever been.
Alabama's run is one of the best ever in major college football.
A few close games and the occasional close lose to a top 10 team doesn't make that not true.
It's not just Alabama and the rest of the world, there are great coaches and great players all over the country playing their asses off every week. Alabama isn't going to win every game by 100 points, that's just a stupid and unreasonable standard.

When Bama wins in two weeks the recent series record will be Bama with 5 wins and 2 losses. With 3 in a row. Sure, games have been close but 5-2 is a pretty good separation.

In the three years they've won the NC they've beaten LSU at least once. One loss to LSU in 2011 doesn't change that fact.
Hell in 2008 they beat LSU, the year they were undefeated going into the SECCG.
So really, LSU has beaten Bama once in 2010 when it didn't matter because Bama wasn't a contender (3 loss season), and once in 2011, when it didn't matter because Bama dominated them in the NCG.
Really LSU has done little, if anything, to stop Alabama's dominance.

A lot of coaches talk about coaching to a standard. Saban actually has the players buy into it. It is less about the opponent and more about playing to your standard on each play. Listen to the players. They sound just like him. It all sounds cliche, but they believe in it.

What the hell does dominance of LSU have to do with dynasty??
We've dominated the league 2008-present. We beat LSU 21-0 for a National Championship in the Superdome.
You can throw out whatever BS you want, but LSU would wish they were Alabama since
2008.
That's separation enough.
