I can see an argument for going to an all-conference double round robin in basketball because there is a lot of parity in the SEC. Football is another matter, however. Unless you are Bama, LSU or Georgia, you need 2-3 cupcakes on the schedule, paired with a couple of teams like Mizzou and Arky to get to a decent record at the end of the year. Is the SEC office taking into account the needs of the mid-level teams at all in discussing an all-conference schedule?

Regardless of what any conference does, I'm willing to bet there are some FCS schools that will decide to not play football this season because it will take more money to actually play the games than they can possibly make, especially with reduced attendances.

I think the Power 5 is about to break away from the NCAA and have their own playoffs.

Each conference will go to 16 teams. Play 10 conference games and 2 nonconference games against the other 4 conferences.

Then have conference championship games and the playoffs, with the bowl system still in place.

Sucks for schools like Kentucky.

Personally, I like an early cupcake or 2 and 2 tough P5 opponents.

I'm a big fan of recruiting. And those cupcake games could be the only time you see true freshmen all season if the schedule is stacked.

And for the true freshmen that see more playing time towards the end of the season, they could see a lot of action and a lot of growth from their film.

Cupcakes are needed for the development of players and development of the league. There is no better instruction than live reps.

That said, if something has to fall this year... I get it

A straight conference schedule could lead to a very exciting year with a weird outcome.

I'm here for it.

A little subtle, waited until 3rd sentence and didn't imply they were as bad as cupcakes. Even added a disarming touch of humility by positioning the statement from a position of need. And you got it in while it's still a fluid situation.

Given the rampant shite-posting in here lately, this qualifies as a well-executed, back-handed zinger. I give it 8 of 10.
