It’s been kicking at 11am for years now. Like the poster said above, the Cotton Bowl area isn’t one you want to be in after dark

What I find even funnier is that the B12 commissioner wont be in attendance for the game, but the SEC commissioner will...
So Sankey decides to show up and he runs off Yormark. I get that there is not any love lost between Texas, OU and the B12 but he should be there just for the publicity side and the CFP implications

I'm not buying that this is the reason driving that kickoff, but OK.
There's no shortage of stadiums in crap parts of metro areas around the country.
And a 2:30 kick in October doesn't end at dusk.
But you aren't wrong, Fair Park is a shite hole...even in the daylight.

The game is occasionally at 2:30 pm.
I prefer 2:30 pm.
some fans prefer 11 am
at the end of the day, the networks decide, but it’s in the contract it can’t be at night
eta: it would be stupid to put it at 2:30 against the Alabama vs A&M game too
Some Texas fans will watch the A&M game.. some A&M fans will watch the Texas game.. etc etc no reason to split them up.. double up

Not to mention that the Fair closes at 10pm so 2:30-3:00 will be it's latest kick off
And yes, 2:30 is the best time for kickoff

Neighborhood sketchiness after dark aside, the fair runs everyone out at 10pm. A late kick would mean paying lots of overtime to try and usher 92k+ out the gates and not into the fairgrounds...and that's even if the game doesn't run long.
