Were Bama fans this anxious when word got around that Saban might be their guy?

I haven’t seen the Florida faithful so excited and in agreement about a potential hire in Chip Kelly.

I remember not sleeping for several nights in a row, worrying that I’d miss some breaking news at 3AM.

It was a wild ride. A lot of fun.

I left for Puerto Vallarta the morning the Bham News headline read that Rich Rod had accepted the Bama job.....I wasted away 5 days in Mexico totally oblivious only to return to the Bham airport where the headlines showed RR changed his mind.

I thought the Saban to Bama was a pipe dream until saw him accosted on the tarmac by a drunk blond.

Just a little info. Rodriquez was not going to be the guy.

They bought some time and got West Virginia to promise an athletic/academic center.

(They later renigged on the agreement which sent Chi-Chi to Ann Arbor.)

Nick had to buy some time before official contact. Agents were working the whole time.

Alabama lured Saban from the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, ending five weeks of denials and two days of deliberation. Saban, who two weeks ago declared "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach," accepted the Tide's job offer job and abandoned his attempt to rebuild the Dolphins after only two seasons.

Why the downvotes? It’s just a question.

Its what the juvenile gumps do. They cant formulate a response, so they hide and downvote.

Mal was told to go to the coaches convention is Fl and hire RR. He went and talked and it was supposed to be a done deal. BUT RR insisted that he be allowed to go and tell his team by. Then the ad promised to do what ever it took. Plus. F-bomb had a few things to say about RR big haired blond wife.
Mal wanted NS the whole time but the boosters got in front of him on the RR deal.
This is when NS agent told Mal that Nick wanted the job. But he needed to get thru the season with the fish. The rest is history.

You have no clue what Bama fans went through. It was really 50 days of twists and turns but damn it was a blast.

What a time to be alive. Then LSU fans flooded the old Tidesports forums, and others, which led to a mass influx of Bama fans over on tigerdroppings. The eventual result was the birth of the SECRANT. You're welcome, SEC fans.

Clearly. 9 responses out of the first 15. Hiding and downvoting for sure.
