What about Gus' first season? Dude played for a natty a year after the worst season in program history. And his seat is getting hotter and hotter by the minute now. All I'm saying is that, in this league, you can't measure the success of a hire in five games. I'd even argue that maybe only 7 or 8 schools in the conference can say with certainty as of today that their last hire was a good one.

You've rustled some LSU fans and an Aubie or two just by giving your opinion that UF MAY have made a good hire.

Imagine the response if you had said DID make a good hire.

You think the OP doesn't know that? It's why he used the LOOKS LIKE instead of WAS a bargain. It's how you indicate that you think something may happen rather than know it will happen.

This place is funny.

I was going to hike for a bit that summer and then hire on a ski resort doing some shite job for a winter and ski and then start real life.

This is literally what I do and what I want to do. Wow.

You can say "looks like" after five games or after "five years" not every one uses it with the meaning you're inferring but I don't disagree that some do.

At any rate, don't understand your deal. No one is downing Mac. I just think people are quick to crown guys. We saw it with Gus, Butch and Bert and look whats going on now. Even Mac refused to say UF was back when given the opportunity. The guy seems to understand there is still work to do.

His offense will only get better, the question is can he keep the defense at this level when the Muschamp effect wears off. For all his faults, that motherfricker could coach some defense.

It isn't that hard to keep a good defense at UF. Compared to the best years under Meyer, in many ways our defense actually took a step back under Muschamp.

Charlie Strong had a better defense than Muschamp imo

We are five games in.

He's doing a good job though.

Just remember that Muschamp was a genius after his 11-2 season and that Gus was also after he took them to the nc game. Beating Ole Miss is not the standard at UF or anywhere

My deal is that I didn't see anyone crown Mac. I did some some posters that think they witnessed a crowning.

I just thought it was a decent discussion.

And all of our sane fans are refusing to say we are back as well. We are less than a year removed from that fraud from UG we just had to suffer through.

No, he wasn't. Look at his offense for that season. Had100 yards of total offense and beat USCe by 30. Blocked a punt and ran it in for a TD against La-Lafayette with seconds on the clock. Driskel had to break an 80 yard run late against Vandy to secure the win.

This is what I was talking about earlier regarding what Foley will do contract-wise for Mac.

Will suckered him into a huge raise and an extension that was ridiculous at the time, and absolutely is mindblowing now. Dude is getting huge paycheck a from two SEC schools.

He did will's def was kind of boring no real creative blitzes or anything

Alex Mcallister and Jon Bullard's stats after 5 games are almost up to season total under champ and they all talk about how rushing the passer has become easier

The only thing I'd be worried about, is that defense after Muschamp's recruits leave. I said when they first were talking about him, that he'd be able to turn that offense around. IMO Jordan Scarlett should be playing much more at RB, but whatever.

They are in the most talent rich state in the country, full of athletes and big time players, but until I see him pick up some real defensive pieces, I'll chalk up what he's doing now as improving the offense, and winning with a full shelf of top talent already assembled before he got there.
