I don't think so based purely on history. We get two and lots of host sites (probably paired with SEC national seeds ).

You think going 1-2 would somehow help you host a super?

If I am not mistaken, the West this year has several teams who could qualify for a top 8 seed; as opposed to the past few yrs?

UK's weekend really really hurt their chances.

I think you would need a pretty decent run at this point and hope the other couple teams going for that spot choke.

Florida and LSU most likely, with Kentucky as a possibility depending on how the tournament plays out. Outside of that, there's not really much of a chance. Arkansas and Miss St out of the west would be the closest. Miss State might be playing themselves out of a regional host at this point.

State's late season collapse has really hurt their chances of hosting.

I think Kentucky needs to get to the sec championship game in order to get national seed along with beating LSU to get there.

There are 2 major flaws in UK's resume IMO. Finishing 2nd in your division. 4 wins vs the top 25 (RPI). A strong showing by A&M, MSU, and/or Vandy in the SEC tourney may just help that look a little bit. All are in the 25-35 range that could move up to help the ole resume. And UK will potentially play LSU (maybe twice) depending on how everything plays out.

Yeah if they do well in the tourney, beat LSU twice, then they may get the edge. It'll be interesting. Regular season conference champions holds a lot of weight in the eyes of the voters, though. If Kentucky win the SEC tourney, that could put them over the top.

Agreed on the importance of hardware for the committee. I think UF and LSU are likely locked into national seeds. Maybe LSU could lose theirs by going 2nQ while UK makes noise. I think it's more about UK playing for a 3rd national seed for the SEC than it trying to take away from LSU or UF.

I believe your right. It's might be better to lose tomorrow and rest your pitchers for the regionals.

I didn't say completely out. Miss State has as much to gain as anyone. A great showing in the tourney could get them a regional host. LSU will keep the same rotation with the exception of Todd Peterson on Wednesday most likely. There's still room for teams to switch for national seeds and regional hosts. Plus, college baseball doesn't rest players as much as basketball and other sports. Sometimes the consistency of pitching every 6-7 days is better than resting.

As long as there are no injuries you do not want your starters missing a start right before regionals.

That is why, as boring as it is, Big 12's round robin format (do they still use it) made sure every team got 3 games in and the 2 playing for the title got 4 in, no more. It was the perfect prep for regionals without over doing it.

Boyd's world may have LSU at 9 for RPI. But the NCAA has them at 8.

It's LSU, we can go 0-2 in hoover, prevent boys from using the girls bathroom, and kill puppies and we would still get the national seed.
