Gates just said beating Bama isn't a big deal.

They are. And to show how you just never know how rosters will go with the portal John Tonje may well be an All American for Wisconsin after transferring from Mizzou, and Gates put together a great roster without him.

I took it as a safety thing. Not a disrespect to Bama.

Yeah."Guys we were FAVORED to win this game" isn't an insult.

Good game Mizzou. Congrats.

That was hard to watch as an Alabama fan. This is not a knock against Missouri. But allowing 59 points in the first half against a team that averages 82 points per game is just lack of effort and/or focus. The most points Missouri has scored in any other SEC game is 83 points.

Mark Sears scored 35 points.

When your point guard scores 35 points he isn’t being a point guard.

I took it as a guy just trying to get control over it. There has been so much court and field storming in recent times that they're eventually going to take some drastic, and maybe stupid, measures to curb it.

Correct. Gates has done the same thing earlier in the season near the end of the game so the opponent could get off the court safely.

Gates also called a timeout with 1 second left vs kansas to let them get off the floor before the court storm. But he knew that was a storm worthy win (at the time) and tonight wasn't so he took it a step further

This team should make a serious run in the tourney.
They are deep as hell.

Kentucky win against bama this weekend might be the nail in coffin for bama and oats.

For a #1 seed it will be a killer.

Alabama may lose 3 or 4 more games. Bama’s schedule is brutal on the backend.

You might want to recheck those box scores.

Alabama ended 2024 losing 3 of 5 in the regular season And then getting embarrassed by Florida in Nashville. They then went to the final four.

March is different.

I disagree somewhat. I don't think Oats really knew what he was running into. Mizzou is that one team you don't really want to run with. Bama being cocky and stubborn decided to continue with their fast paced style and it got roasted. Mizzou didn't even really shoot that well outside of the first couple minutes.

I think Oats breaking his assistant coaches clip board was almost symbolic of how poorly Bama game planned that 1st half and this game in general.

Tonje was injured all season and they were bot sure he would be healthy. He was going to transfer to New Mexico but went to Wisconsin late. I think Tonje knew Mizzou has a lot of guards as well

Good fact check. You scored 88 against Mississippi State and 87 against UGA. You average 83 in conference play (before tonight). I had already run out of toes to count about 5 minutes into the game tonight.

None of that makes it better for Alabama’s defense.
