LEADING OFF
• Playing in its penultimate midweek game, Ole Miss squares off against Southern Miss for the second time this season.
• The Rebels will look to avenge the 10-7 loss to the Golden Eagles earlier in the season at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi.
• Ole Miss is making its first trip to Hattiesburg since 2019, a 3-5 win for Southern Miss.
PACK SWAYZE
Ole Miss ranks fourth in the nation in both total and average attendance this season. In the 25 home games this season available in the most recent data, 253,903 total fans have packed the stands at Swayze Field, good for an average of 10,156 per game.
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
Ole Miss is one of five programs to host at least 10 NCAA Regional appearances since 2004, joining Florida State, Florida, LSU and North Carolina. The Rebels are also one of eight programs to earn at least five regional hosting bids since 2014, being joined by Florida State, Florida, LSU, Louisville, TCU, Vanderbilt and Texas Tech.

I expect Ole Miss to win but this could be one of those annoying midweek games against an instate mid major team. This games means the world to Southern Miss. For Ole Miss, probably not so much. I remember when a going through the motions Arkansas team dropped a stinker to UA-Little Rock. You have to be careful in these games.

Gator, you do a good job on this site keeping everyone informed about this and that. While my baseball is down this year, I still like knowing about the stuff you post. You do the work so we don't have to lol.

The most Ole Miss thing to happen is for us to go on a hot streak, sneak into a regional, burn out in the supers and Bianco save his job for another year

I know you guys hate Bianco but he is actually a very good coach. Yes, Ole Miss is struggling this year but the fact is, everyone knew UM might take a step back this year after losing the talent you did.
You guys bash him for lack of CWS appearances but baseball is a funny game. It's not like Ole Miss has big time history and traditions in baseball but Bianco gave you a lot of it since his hire.
Because of Covid, where baseball was also canceled on the high school level, recruiting was a crap shoot because you couldn't evaluate in person. Some programs got lucky ane some didn't. I think you will see a ton more transfers over the next two years than ever.

Different situation , usm is the better team this year

Southern Miss has been to Omaha as many times as Ole Miss this century. They’re a really good baseball program.

OM has more talent, just have played like dogshit most of the season.

The problem is no one expected our bats to take such a huge step back. It feels like everyone except Tim Elko has regressed this year. Dunhurst and Chatagnier have been abysmal.

We literally returned 93% of our offense - lost our top 3 pitchers...can't be as bad as we are this year offensively

Easy to say as a State fan: coming off a national championship, haven't lost a series to us in God knows how long, and y'all have been to Omaha I believe 3 or 4 times with 3 or 4 different head coaches in the last 5 years.
Baseball is a weird game for everyone besides Bianco. Seems fairly consistent with him.
