Do they give that Fed money back and resources if it ends up In New York rather than Orlando? Doubt it. Weather is weather. It’s unpredictable and nobody actually knows until the day before when you walk outside and can see it coming. But this whole money grab etc.. for counties and states is ridiculous

Why wouldn’t they just move it?

With the most recent shift I don’t see how this game gets played in Alabama.

Yeah just saw weather channel show it hitting mobile Saturday morning and the dark red area for rain and flooding was right over central bama.

Says 12+ inches Saturday

What about Friday night? Too much chaos from incoming storm?

Sunday night? I hope they keep the tarp on the field

a direct hit on Atlanta would be most appreciated. We really need rain on the lake. Down 7+ feet and dropping fast

Anyone who hopes to be hit by a tropical system has never lived with the results of actually being hit by a tropical system.

Well I hate to break it to you cupcake, but ATL has been hit directly many times and we get doused with rain.

If this current track holds up then this game is probably done before it gets started. Might play it Sunday I just don’t know though.

Here is your problem and LSU/Florida speak from experience.

The storm probably will not drastically affect T-town but Mobile to Montgomery are square in the track. Alabama will issue a state of emergency and all law enforcement, first responders, utility people, etc will be procured from whatever they are doing. Also hotel rooms will be taken for evacuees and storm workers.
So it might be clear weather for the game but all that other stuff will cause a wrinkle.

Good thing you brought this here. LSU fans are experts on weather and football schedules.

Sure, if it makes landfall as a major hurricane. Not sure the logistical response to a cat 1 or tropical storm will have same effect.

For Gustav, I believe the game was moved to the morning.

Hurricane George was predicted to make landfall in Louisiana on a Saturday night before it made a late turn towards Mississippi coast. I recall an evacuation of the New Orleans area and the game against Idaho being played as scheduled.

Both of these storms at least a 2 at landfall.

I have never heard of a tropical system not having lightning with it. That alone will make it hard to play with the lightning rules the way they are.

You haven't experienced many tropical systems then because cloud to ground lightning is actually the one major hazard that is almost completely absent from tropical systems.

There's mostly cloud to cloud lightning and the occasional cloud to ground lightning strike in really intense eyewalls but being struck by lightning is the very least of your concerns if you get caught outside in one of those. Dodging flying debris, not getting blown off your feet, and getting swept away in storm surge if you're too close to the beach rank way way ahead of the unlikelihood of being struck by lightning

Hit the next day after game. Note this was 28 yrs ago. Katrina changed all storm response directives.

Was predicted to make landfall Saturday night. They had evacuations occurring on game day.

My point however is that they are not going to evacuate for a tropical storm and will not have mandatory evacuations for a cat 1. Roads will not be congested with evacuees and hotels will not cancel bookings. Tuscaloosa is 200 miles inland, at most it will be a rain event at game time.
