Well LSU opens with Florida State so that’s pretty bad too

Additionally, it's a great time to let some backups and younger guys on your own team get some game experience when they otherwise wouldn't. I think that's a good thing. Even as a fan, watching a blowout is still engaging for me as long as I get to watch backups and freshmen play once you're up 27.

I completely agree with this, I do enjoy checking out the younger guys in the second half. 2020 was great, but playing 11 straight SEC teams (regular season plus SECchampionship Game) and then 2 playoff games was brutal. Those cupcake games maybe problematic but they are necessary imho.

The reason Austin Peay and Southern even have athletic programs is because they get to play teams like yall. Those games, though usually embarrassing blowouts, actually fund college athletics and scholarships for thousands of students of those smaller colleges. I think that's a good thing.

I have mixed feelings about this. You aren't wrong, but in the end the institution sends out a bunch of undersized guys to get their arse beat into the absolute dirt so that women's tennis can give a scholarship to some future HOA president.

That's not what Title IX was intended to do.

That's why Alabama should play the smaller in-state schools. I don't live in Alabama but state money should benefit the state imo.

ETA: The downvotes are odd.

It's a wash. The smaller in-state schools don't seem to have any trouble getting games on their own.

The SEC is by far the best conference, but the “FCS Week” we do in late November is a joke

These puss arse schedules are ridiculous. Let them play real football. Alabama and Georgia are repeat offenders of this shite.

Throw back Thursday to when Auburn narrowly escaped a home loss to Georgia State

And UL Monroe

And Washington State

And Vanderbilt

And Utah State

And an overtime thriller with fricking Jacksonville State

Absolutely. If you're going to play these insignificant schools in buy games, it's way better to schedule your satellite campuses or other in-state institutions; why is Georgia paying Samford to come to Athens instead of giving that money to Kennesaw State? It just doesn't make any sense.
