SEC non conference schedules are laughable. I get that teams will schedule a couple of cupcakes but damn. Ya"ll playing Austin Peay, we are are playing Southern. Its a joke.

The reason Austin Peay and Southern even have athletic programs is because they get to play teams like yall. Those games, though usually embarrassing blowouts, actually fund college athletics and scholarships for thousands of students of those smaller colleges. I think that's a good thing.

We basically gave our running game alot of practice vs them and didnt throw the ball downfield. They played well.

Additionally, it's a great time to let some backups and younger guys on your own team get some game experience when they otherwise wouldn't. I think that's a good thing. Even as a fan, watching a blowout is still engaging for me as long as I get to watch backups and freshmen play once you're up 27.

That's why Alabama should play the smaller in-state schools. I don't live in Alabama but state money should benefit the state imo.

ETA: The downvotes are odd.

Alabama already plays a charity game for an in-state school.

Like we were forced to with the Alabama Polytechnic Institute when their football team didn't have a pulse.
As long as Bama plays at home the money is good. We have no interest in donating to the UAwannabe fund or the JustShowUp gamecock fund.
Let them make their bones by going out and playing the best on the west coast, midwest and southwest like Bama did back in the early part of the 20th century. Auburn has made its living on the Bama game at JHS so you know what I'm talking about. JSU, SouthAL, UAB can make their own way with playing top tier teams ...oh, and winning.

Honestly, thats better anyway. It creates deeper roots for your program vs a hefty one time payday.

I have said the same about UGA and our cupcakes, keep it to Kennesaw St, GA St, GA Southern, and Georgia Tech for our cupcakes.

These puss arse schedules are ridiculous. Let them play real football. Alabama and Georgia are repeat offenders of this shite.

We should make GA Southern our new in-state rival. It’s more competitive than tech and GSU actually cares about its athletic department.

a few of the Arkansas D-2 schools could take down Austin Peay on a good day

Delta State would take out Peay

Austin Peay had the hardest worst pathetic astroturf this side of Philadelphia Eagles 1970's astroturf
