Barring injury, I can't see him getting enough touches to make the watch list. I'm not discounting him completely, but I think he will have to earn his way onto the list after the season starts.
I agree with that. My point is that he'll be our "starter" (getting the majority of the touches) by game 3.

I'll meditate on that one a while. I considered him in the first place, but just don't see anyway he can crack the top 5 without a Yeldon injury.

Can't add him either, but it is ridiculous how stacked Bama is a RB. I don't understand why any top running back would sign there for another year or maybe two.
I suspect a lot of processing from the back field over the next two summers.

quote:Well, besides the obvious humor/homer of me listing lots of AU running backs, there are schools without a definitive number one back that are likely to have one of their running backs put up good numbers.

In a situation like Alabama or MSU where there is a clear number one likely to get the bulk of the carries, it makes less sense to add others to the list from that school. Whereas, with a team like LSU, there are two or three RBs with the talent to put up good numbers, but there is more uncertainty regarding who will get the most carries. Thus, it is reasonable to list them all on a watch list and wait to see who, if anyone, emerges from the group.

Who should be added or removed form the watch list?
Add - Derrick Henry, will be in the same role as Yeldon was last year and have a lot of playing time to impress folks, imo.
Remove - J. Hill, will be playing defense, protecting his backfield in OPP.

Why do people feel so sure about this?

I was tempted to nominate Mathers as he does have the potential but it would take a Scott injury for him to receive significant carries.
2014 though....

Call me crazy but I think Mathers could absolutley get equal carries as Scott. And remember, a Scott injury isnt out of the question whatsoever.
We desperately need that physical back to tote the load and then JS can be the homerun,10-15 carry type back he's meant to be, who will scorch teets when he sees a seam.

You should add Henry Josey from Mizzou to your watch list. He was a Doak Walker semifinalist in 2011 as a sophomore, and one of the leading rushers in the country when he got hurt in the Texas game that year. He was averaging over 8 yds per carry, and had about 1200 yds or so in 9 games before he got hurt. He took a medical redshirt last year, but is back, as a junior.
He's a feel good story - some people said he wouldn't play again after tearing his acl, mcl, patellar tendon and meniscus. He had 3 surgeries, I believe. But word is he's 90-100% of what he was, and just as fast, maybe a shade faster. After spring, he was good enough to be listed as the #1 RB.
Of course, It remains to be seen how good he will really be this year, but he's pumped and there's a lot of optimism about him and his return. We sure missed him last year. He's worthy of the watch list.

What, no Henny Youngman? Invalid listing.

It's already been mentioned a few times, but it's generally assumed that Yeldon will get most of the work for Alabama.
Other schools might have more of a competition.
