He knows football is won in the trenches.
Recruiting linemen on both sides of the ball is the key to long term success. The more big strong Guys you have on the team the better. In this league, you better have quality depth on the line of scrimmage because it is brutal upfront.
Pittman recruited well at Georgia, but that program is easy to recruit to. It will be interesting how he approaches recruiting at Arkansas. He seems smart enough to realize the key is Texas high school pipeline.

I got no hate for him. I just made the observation that he wasn’t exactly Mr. Energy. In fact, he’s my type of guy. I’d like to drive a tank over assholes like Alabama’s strength coach, dynamite the corpse, crap on what’s left then set it on fire. Give me chill all day long. Hype is overhyped. Real competitors compete with or without silly hype huddles or some douchebag yelling in your face.

He could even fail. It will be hard to fail more than Chad though. I mean a failure for even a normal shitty coach is improvement over the last two years.

Like I’ve already said a few times-I could see a few scenarios where this ends up being a good hire.
I just think most would agree that arkansas is a top 25 job and could have done much better (on paper) than a 60-year-old career OL coach. It was more of a complement than a slight to arkansas. But hey maybe he works out. I thought chad Morris was a great hire so

LSU could have done much better than promoting the DL coach.
At the end of the day, hiring coaches is a complete crap shoot and nobody knows how it’ll turn out. Scott Frost and Herman were the hottest names in the sport, and both have been complete shite.
Orgeron was universally mocked, and he’s two wins away from not only a national championship, but probably the single most impressive season OAT.

I was getting pissed off just watching the press conference and I'm not even an Arkansas fan. The whole "oh boo hoo this means so much to me" bullshite is just that. It means nothing. Arkansas fans should be mad at this hire and not celebrating how much "he luvs us and wants to be a hawg!"

I honestly think HY's buy out stance cost us at Leach, Kiffin, and maybe others.
He likely would have pushed a similar reduced buyout to Kiffen.
We are probably better off long term with Pittman though. His coaching connections and line recruiting will pay dividends. If you have a decent line you have a decent team.
