The Big 10 will never again have to play another game at night if they don't want to.
Big Noon Kickoff.
An entire slate of other games.
And they can have 1530 kicks on the west coast. It'll be 1930 in the east, but nice and sunny in California, Oregon, and Washington. Those teams out west will never have to worry about their teams playing past midnight ever again.
This move is pretty brilliant. And they have CBS and NBC broadcasting them all. West coast teams will get better exposure, east coast teams will get even more exposure than they do now.

So time zones are a real thing. And if they want Eastern TVs they will be playing later (local time) games.

Yeah, the Washington/Oregon vs. Maryland/Rutgers is going to be awesome for the teams and traveling fans. Washington needs to play Oregon every single year because their next closest opponent is over a 1,000 miles away (USC). The travel costs and empty visiting stands are going to get old quick.

Revenue is generated by TV not fans in the stands. Covid proved that. They literally played in front of zero fans and still had a season.

I was secretly hoping that the SEC would take Washington and Oregon even though I knew it never going to happen. Seattle is enormous and SEC teams vs UW and Oregon would have really grown the sport there with more potential then really anywhere else in the country. I completely understand the flip side to the argument as well.

Empty visiting stands only happen if you don't have home fans.

UGA has played OOC opponents in Sanford many times who don't sell their tickets. They return them to UGA and UGA fans fill the seats. We still sell out those cupcake games where their fans don't travel.

So do most SEC fanbases at their school's home games.

It’s over. College football is dead

A little dramatic there. College football will be played and I’m still going to watch and be a fan. Stop being a baby about change.

Players can be paid now and 2 big leagues (sec and big10) will dominate and a third league (big12) is going to survive. The pac12 is done effective immediately and the ACC will soon follow. We have to adjust as fans to these inevitable changes.

If true, it's good for Washington and Oregon and it's curtains for the Pac 12. Interesting to see who the Big 12 wants to pick up from the remainder.

I'm very curious about Stanford. I think the Big 10 wants to use Stanford to pair with ND if they can bring ND in (they're the last remaining team of note not in the SEC or Big 10). ND plays Stanford every year and it would be a very reasonable pairing both to appease them and add another west coast team for that part of the Big 10.

But if ND isn't ready to go to the Big 10... what does Stanford do in the meantime? Join the Big 12 and deal with potentially leaving that conference later? Go independent (they can afford it)? No idea how that might play out.

AZ has already applied for B12 membership and, from what I hear, ASU and Utah are in the first stages of requesting membership

I'd be looking at UNC and UVA

UNC is a basketball school and will never leave Duke unless they keep their rivalry.

As a former resident of the Triangle with family who went to both Duke and UNC, it's a bit different than what you propose.

UNC/Duke is a huge basketball rivalry, but isn't nearly the same for any other sport. UNC absolutely views NC-State is their primary rival for every other sport.

And nothing would prevent them from playing out of conference like UGA/Tech, Florida/Florida State, South Carolina/Clemson.

ND is the only remaining tier one media team left.

UNC is probably tier 2 along with Clemson and FSU, but they are locked in with the GOR for the next decade.

I’m not sure Stanford or the rest of the Pac12 leftovers are even tier 3.

Whoever gets ND will have major leverage with the networks during the next renegotiation.

Stanford has more value than Clemson and FSU for the B10. UNC has more value than Clemson and FSU too. UNC and Stanford are behind ND but they are closer to ND than you think.

Really hate to see it for Washington State and Oregon State fans. They've just got left holding the bag. I hope it works out for them in the end, but I wouldn't be surprised if those athletic departments are facing a financial nightmare.

Agree that Stanford has more value than Clemson/FSU. They've got more collegiate titles overall than anyone, it's one of America's top universities, and if the long game is to corner Notre Dame, then the Big 10 would have all of the Irish's traditional rivals, other than Navy: Stanford, USC, Michigan State, and Purdue.

Good move for the B1G. Now there are four West teams to balance out how awkward a fit USC/UCLA were for the conference. And there are some seriously good potential name matchups on the schedule. From a media standpoint, they have all of the larger markets as well.

I'll be interested to see what happens with the remains of the PAC. ASU/AU and Utah are now good as gone.

The Big Ten will throw a life line to Cal and Stanford.

Oregon State and Washington State will head to the Mountain West.

P2 consolidation continues.

BIG competition level has increased dramatically.
