Washington wins. Better coach.
No one is disagreeing that Petterson is light years better than Malzahn. I would trade them in a heartbeat. We'll see if the talent advantage that Auburn has can overcome that.

Chris Petersen is a good coach
This is truth. I have said before that I think he is one of the better coaches in the nation. One of the best scheming and X and O coach out there. He will have his team very prepared for the hand off up the middle, jet sweep on second down, throw over the top on third down, and then his punt return team. If AU gets a first down he will be prepared for the hand off up the middle, jet sweep on second down, and throw over the top on third down, and his punt return team ready on fourth down.
He may, just may, be prepared for the quick throw out to Ryan Davis too. I'll take $150,000 a year to prepare the defense against AU.

24-17 Washington.
First team to 20, wins.

Gus can't compete with Chris Petersen's team.
Their Offense is pretty sick and they are returning a stout D as well.
It might get ugly for Auburn...similar to UCF type loss.
Ultimately, this game will determine Gus' firing after this year.

Washington wins in a shoot out.

So the one time they opened against a good teams with Gus running the offense (he wasn't there in 2012), they lost. It's not a myth or a troll to say Auburn is usually much better in mid-October than they are in the first few weeks of the season. It usually takes them a few games to find a rhythm offensively.
I don't think Washington is good enough to expose that, though.

Chris Petersen is 7 points better than Gus. Auburn gets a big lead and holds on for dear life. 31-29 (Missed two pointer at end of game)

I actually feel pretty good about this game for Auburn. Auburn's defense is going to be nasty this year. First game of the season, defense will be 100% healthy and fresh, in what will primarily by a Pro-Auburn crowd. I expect U-Dub will struggle to score points.
Can Gus not drop the ball on offense in the first game of the season? He has a returning NFL caliber QB, and has spent all off-season scripting a first drive guaranteed to score a TD.
I'll take Auburn 24-10.

I went back and watched a couple of games Washington played last year. They do not defend well against a team that can run the ball (Penn State with Barkley is an example) from the looks of camp Auburn is set at Running Back (just needs to show people now).
I agree the Defense is too nasty and shuts Washington down (Mostly in the 2nd half)
Note though that Washington has a good defense as well, but from what I have been seeing the Offensive line will "Surprise some people" this year.
Jake Browning was throwing some interceptions during fall camp (not a good thing with the Auburn Defense)
Other note yes I believe every Auburn fan is keeping Gus's coaching in the back of their minds.

I'll take Washington and the 4 points.
Oh, and thanks Sheridan for ruining the season lines by taking Auburn to win only 9 or less (line at that time) and Washington to win more than 10.5 games.

I want to pick Washington in an upset, but with their all american left tackle still battling injury, and with a WR corp that looks somewhat unimpressive to me, I like Auburn better making big plays against a salty defense.
Should be a good game though.
Something like 24-17 Auburn or something like that.

It seems they're pretty thin on the DL. That's not good against AU.

It wouldn't be an upset.........Washington is ranked ahead of Auburn........
