Charles Rodgers

He was a monster at Michigan State, I remember I thought he was going to be an all-timer. He was probably the first big bust that I was really disappointed in

I think Johnny Manziel, Ryan Leaf, and Heath Shuler are unparalleled as the biggest busts of all time.

None of them were the #1 overall pick

Heath Shuler’s career stats— 3691 yds and 15 TDs. Looks like OP’s thread backfired.

Its not about what you end up doing in the NFL. Its where you were drafted that makes you a bust.

Leaf and Manziel were essentially the same story but Leaf was drafted higher overall, was even dumber than Manziel, and had more hype and fewer question marks coming into the league.

I remember clearly Leaf hurting his ankle playing flag football in a local park while serving a suspension for cursing out the Chargers staff. He erupted on reporters in the locker room after games. He was just a titanic underperforming goofey dumbass at the time.

Vince Young went to the Pro Bowl twice.

He's obviously not a hall of famer, but he isn't a huge bust.

Off the top of my head I can think of a few bigger busts:

Heath Shuler
Trent Richardson
Andre Smith
Rolando McClain
Terrance Cody
Mark Barron
Courtney Upshaw
Chance Warmack
Dee Milliner
A’Shawn Robinson
Rueben Foster
Reggie Ragland
Tim Williams
Antonio Langham
Dre Kirkpatrick
Cyrus Jones

Pretty close if not. Leaf was a huge bust (and the Colts seriously debated taking him over Manning).
There have been a lot of big time college busts in the pros.
Archie Griffin was a bust considering his two Heismans.
Spurrier considering he won a Heisman. Bob Griese, the runner up, did far better winning two SB and elected to HOF).
Over 10 NFL seasons, Spurrier played in 106 games (starting 38), completing 597 passes in 1,151 attempts, for a total of 6,878 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 60 interceptions.
