I would ask the OP to compare the coaches his school has had with the ones that have been at Alabama.

Would any of his coaches while at his school have earned a statue like the ones that stand at The Walk of Champions at Bryant Denny?

Bryant coached during a time when there was Bowl alignments and if you lost a game you didn't get a mulligan. That is why what Bryant and Bowden did is more impressive than what coaches are doing today.

Well, OP's school does have a Walk of Champions, so...

Bryant often sang the praises of Neyland, a great coach. But a different era actually. He was ending his while Bryant was starting out.

15-12-2 is "abysmal"? It's not great but your word choice is pretty bad.

Bryant also won after the SEC integrated. UT's heyday was in the white bread years before integration. Since 1970 UT is 5th in SEC titles and winning pct.

edit to laugh about the ridiculous comments, when Saban signed up with Alabama, that he wouldn't do as well as he did at LSU. I knew that was goofy as hell
FTR, I never claimed anything so foolish as that.

What I said on other forums and IRL was that Saban would do well at Bama, but never well enough to meet the ridiculous expectations of the Bama fanbase, and that eventually he'd bolt for another gig once the burden of those expectations got too heavy for him.

Laughing yeah Freep You sure as hell were. We gave Dr Frankenstein the lab keys and got out of the way is what happened. Mainly because The Doctor wouldn't put up with anything else.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Bear won a lot of games but was abysmal in Bowl Games. 15-12-2. Once went 8 straight bowls at Alabama without winning. 7 losses and a tie. Lost several more national titles because of his bowl record. Might be time to lower the Bear's legend a notch or two.

^when you're so young and stupid you don't even realize that even making a bowl game back in those time periods was a big deal.

Neyland beat Bryant when he was at Kentucky, NOT Alabama...huge difference.

MSU would've named him king of the school if he won 1 NC.

@ comparing Ole Miss/LSU to Kent St/Michigan St.

The most honest post you've ever made probably and not even on purpose.

Awe yea absolutely Paul W Bryant was way overrated man. Three NC’s in the 60’s and three NC’s in the 70’s totally was easy to do and not a big deal. I put Coach Bryant at like #8 in the top ten SEC HC’s of all time. Very good thread OP!
