You need to look at the rankings before the bowls.
Bowden has no one to blame but himself for going 2-4 in title games.
How many times was he in the top 4 after the UF game ? Wide right killed him a few times. Like I posted before, if you lost a game your chances were almost zero due to the Bowl alignments.

Until the late 60s the ap and upi awarded before bowls. Actually, the upi didn't start until 1974. Bowl games were an exhibition.
There were 10 bowl games. If u were 8-3 u MIGHT make a bowl. The lower tier bowl games in his tenure would be NY6 bowls today with the matchup. Bama once played SMU, who was 10-1.......in the SUN BOWL.
He won 6 national titles, was screwed out of 3 (66,75,77) and won the sec 8 times in 10 years. He beat auburn 9 straight, Tennessee 11 straight, lsu 11 straight, was 24-1 against state, never lost to ole miss and won 323 games. He did not lose a SINGLE GAME in Bryant Denny from 1959 to 1982, not one.
You're comment is goofy and shows you're uninformed.

Well Billy Taylor. At Bama Nick is:
Counting playoff games, which are high, high level bowl games and regular bowls Nick is 11-6 with 6 national titles. He's finished the regular season unbeaten 4 times and with 1 loss 7 times, which is unheard of in today's college football much less playing in the SEC. He's lost more than one regular season game twice (07 and 2010) and 07 was basically a throw away year while he was cleaning out the program. I'm glad u like the result of last year's national title game but honestly it means more to u than us. Sometimes u lose, big deal. Still was so much fun and hats off to Clemson. No biggie. If u play in enough national title games, and we play in it every year, you're gonna lose one sometimes. Even the patriots and Yankees do.
