LSU's defense played its heart out in 2016,but LSU's offense would still be trying to score. Alabama's defense just smothered LSU's offense.

2014 should not have been close, that offense was so goddamn bad. Conversely, 2018 should have been closer because that was a very good LSU team just with a bad scheme.

But 2015 doesn’t get talked about enough for being a kick in the nuts. We thought we had finally found a QB with Harris (lol) and Fournette would do his thing and bring us to victory. I think we were even #2 in the debut CFP rankings that year. And we just got completely choked out. And it carried over into arse whippings from Arkansas and Ole Miss.

Nah, last year's was even weirder.

That being said, MVP for 2016 game had to have been Duke Riley. Dude was locked in on that game. If LSU had an offense that year, they win it easily.

It was LOUD. And LSU was less than abput 6 inches of space between Bama players and the ground on the two otherwise fumbles returned for TD's that would've won the game.

What a 1930 kind of game: team A beats team B by causing and returning two fumbles for TD's.

It was clear Danny Etling was rattled from the first snap. He had nervous feet. When I saw that I figured it was going to be a long night.

Duke Riley

I melted when he was announced as a starter that summer but what a season he had. Aranda did a great job with him. Corey Thompson also had a good game.

No one to blame but ourselves on offense, but the REC gifted Bama their two scores. Like 4 different holds uncalled on the TD, and the FG was set up by the phantom offsetting personal fouls.

I know a lot of our fans mention the almost scoop-and-score, but unfortunately his knee did barely touch after recovering it.

Should have gone to OT 0-0.

Alabama sleep walked through 2016, 2017, and 2021.

I was there. The rare close game that I wasn’t sweating bullets. It felt like they could’ve played 50 quarters and lsu wouldn’t have scored that night.

Great defensive game from both teams. It’s a type of game that does not happen too often anymore — closest recent game I can think of that was similar was UGA-Clemson last year (10-3 UGA). People complain about low-scoring affairs but they are fun/enjoyable in their own way. These days I think people tend to forget that there can legitimately still be excellence on the defensive side — even when the offenses are not necessarily record-breaking, which neither Bama nor LSU’s offenses were that year.

Despite how well LSU defense played, the game was over when Hurts ran it in for the first (and only) td of the game. There was no way LSU offense was going to score a td against Bama’s defense. Their best hope was a turnover or punt return/ST play for points in that game — those things never materialized.

We were fricked after we didn’t convert the early Jamaal Adams INT into points. Could have jumped to a 7-0 lead and there might have been another earthquake

Totally agree. This sounds weird but the 10-0 loss in 2016 felt like a bigger blowout than 27-0 in 2018. We had no chance in hell of scoring an offensive touchdown.

Some yeadr earlier when Zow was Bama's QB. LSU was the better team, but Bama had some extraordinary luck and scored two late tds to win.

Exactly.

Not only did LSU not convert, but never go close to the first down.
The first 3 plays were an out to Dupree for 3 yards, a slant for 5 that Dural dropped (out of a 5-wide formation), and a drop back that Alabama bull-rushed for a sack.

No mis-direction. No play-action fake to Fournette (other than mesh on 3rd down). Nothing over the top. No motion to read the defense. Nothing.

Horribly called series by Ensminger.

Look, man, I really don't care if we score, aight? Our defense is stellar and they can probably outscore the other team on their own. So don't worry too much about scoring or gaining yards or anything like that. But if you turn the ball over, I will fricking murder you and your entire family."

I read this in his press conference pissed off voice.
