Was 2016 the weirdest LSU-Bama game in recent history?

0-0 in the 4th quarter
LSU lost but Dwayne Thomas balled out after saying LSU would dominate. Probably his best game at LSU.
I thought bama could’ve pulled away earlier but Kiffin was getting too cute in LSU territory. tFolder had a good gameplan.
Unfortunately Ensminger’s offense got shut out (and again in ‘18 )
Wasn’t as hard hitting as 2011 but an enjoyable defensive scrapfest

I remember Kiffin throwing his visor into the stands after the game. It was loud as hell all game, I had a headache afterwards.

Bama out-yarded LSU 325 to 125 but constantly shite the bed when it mattered

I love Jalen Hurts but he became an incredibly frustrating player to watch during his career as a starter at Bama. It was almost like Nick Saban told him, "Look, man, I really don't care if we score, aight? Our defense is stellar and they can probably outscore the other team on their own. So don't worry too much about scoring or gaining yards or anything like that. But if you turn the ball over, I will fricking murder you and your entire family."

I remember Coach O giving Etling a death stare that game, it was either after a pick or a failed 3rd down. Didn't really see that too much from him.

2011, 2014, and 2016 were all very similar games in the sense that they all literally came down to the very end of the game without much offense to speak of from either team with obviously 2011 and 2016 being the most offense-adverse games. The 2011 game was obviously tied at 6 at the end of regulation. The 2014 game was tied at 13 at the end of regulation, and as you already noted the 2016 game was scoreless entering the 4th quarter. Those games from 2009-2017 were almost all just defensive bludgeonings

All but 1 of LSU's shutouts since 1993 have been to Alabama, the lone outlier being shutout by Arkansas in 2014 in Fayetteville. 1996, 2002, 2011, 2016, and 2018. And I had the great displeasure of being at all of them

Don't forget 2008. I thought we were gonna win when we blocked that FG (on replays it looked like he was going to shank it anyway the way it came off the foot) and then Lee gave it away with that pick in OT

2014
Also we were doomed when Dan Borne said please stay off the field before the game was over.

2009-2016 as good a football that can be played by two great teams, either one could have been national champions numerous times

Well, the same could be said about LSU in 2012. LSU outgained Alabama by over 100 yards and prior to that last drive by Alabama to take the lead, Alabama had just 259 yards of total offense. 259 yards in 58 minutes, and 72 yards in 43 seconds, sigh
That and the 2014 game were probably the most gut-wrenching losses in recent memory for LSU

True, but there was a lot more offense in that game. That 2008 season ruined Les Miles on offense. He played tight to the vest the rest of his career after that season with the lone exception of 2013

I will go to my grave saying that was a bullshite penalty, especially at that point in the game. Happened right in front of me Shouldn't have thrown a flag at all or should have been offsetting personal fouls on both teams.

People always talk about LSU-Auburn being weird but the Bama games always seem to be strange as well

LSU-Auburn always has some bizarre shite go down. LSU-Alabama is just Lucy yanking the football from Charlie Brown every time.

I wouldn't call the Alabama games strange like the Auburn games. The Alabama games have really just been hard-nosed football for the most part. The Auburn games have had arena fires, weird penalties, Les Miles clock management blunders turned plays of the year, 5 missed FGs, time running out on what would be game winning plays, etc.

That was such a bizarre game. Alabama ran the ball successfully (averaged 6.6 yards per attempt), but could not convert on third down (1 of 9) and lost two fumbles. LSU had trouble running the ball but Les still decided to run it 49 times.

Agreed. This was the worst, IMHO. Bama gave our Tigers every effing chance to win that game despite Jenkins' stellar (cellar) performance. Good Guy TJ Yeldon certainly did his part with the extremely late fumble at what- the Bama 20 yard line?
Yet somehow, Les & the Tigers said 'No Thank You- let's take it to OT!!'

You forgot to include the 2011 NC game.

Kicking the ball out of bounds after the FG is right up there if we are casting blame.
