Probably because Tommy Hodson was 100X more the college qb that Bart Starr was and anybody capable of comparing resumes understands that being a FOUR TIME 1ST TEAM ALL CONFERENCE SELECTION trumps never even making the third team and riding the pine? Now do the NFL team and I'll gladly vote for the great Bart Starr. Quit your whining, Gump. Facts is facts.

In Eli's defense, the talent that Burrow had compared to him was on a completely different planet. Chris Collins and Bill Flowers were Eli's two biggest targets.

I'm not saying Eli was bad, but we just saw the greatest single season by a quarterback in college football history. If we're talking college performance, Eli has no leg to stand on to trump Burrow.

Eli was a damn good college QB. Do not think I don't know that.

The facts are the vast majority of people here have never even heard the name Tommy Hodson, and the reason he won was because LSU fans had enough people run over from the Tiger Rant to dirty up the selection. Kinda like Democrats using dead people to win elections. It's fraud.

I agree with you. Burrow is clearly the better college QB out of the two. The only area I think that Eli probably has him beat is football IQ but Burrow is still really damn smart.

I just remember Eli's senior year 90% of the time he would come to the line and audible out of whatever Cutcliffe had called

However, I think if Eli had the weapons that Chad Kelly had in 2015 he would have thrown for 5000+ yards.

There have been 13 QBs to ever throw for 5,000 yards in a season. 1 ever from the SEC. They're almost all Texas Tech (or similar offenses with similarly weak opponents)

That number is really fricking hard to get to. Dwayne Haskins didn't even do it in Ohio States offense with their weapons and he broke their program records.

Let's pump the breaks on Eli hitting 5,000 yards.

Interesting, I think that might be Burrow's greatest asset.

Football family just like Eli, would install the plays he liked during the week and would constantly audible at the line. He was our offense this year.

ETA:

Not saying Burrow was better there, but it's definitely a strength of his.

It would have been close but in 2015 Chad Kelly hit 4000 yards. With Treadwell, Core, Sanders and Evan Engram along with Freeze's offense I think he would hit it. Cutcliffe was much more pro style than Freeze was.

But if your aunt had nuts she'd be your uncle.

How would you even know? Starr played during the Whitworth era. He missed his junior year with a back injury during a hazing incident.

Starr was 100x more the MAN than Tommy Hodson was because he went through massive amounts of adversity in his life.

Starr did better running a 60s era NFL offense and put up more impressive stats than Hodson did running a 90s era offense.

Besides, it just says "Best SEC Quarterbacks ever" not "Best SEC Quarterbacks ever based only on college career."

If people REALLY believed that, then how come AJ McCarron, with more national title rings than anyone else on the list, didn't make it further?
