Per John Brice. UT wants to get it done soon. Sounds like Martin is the heavy favorite.

Said Mullen was first choice. Campbell 2nd. Mullen preferred UF and UT deemed that Campbell’s buyout was too large.

That happens when you have to buyout coaches before the ink is dry

So, they’re gonna spend an extra $20 million in lawyer fees and payouts to just hire the guy that they probably should have hired to begin with?

That’s so Tennessee.

Forced by self inflicted errors to take a massive gamble in a search that could not afford taking a massive gamble.

Even for Tennessee this is pretty unbelievable

Schiano would have been a pretty decent hire. That's what's so hilarious about this whole thing.

I like Martin more than Schiano.

Risky yes but much higher upside. Obviously much more likely to crash and burn but we are already fricking atrocious.

If it’s not a slam dunk bring me the higher ceiling.

How the fvck is Tennessee down to hiring an OC who was barely on Group of 5 HC hot boards or Greg Schiano?

That's malpractice.

Tee Martin would be a shite hire. Tennessee fans would love it because he's a UT alum. Ask UGA about Goff and how that worked out. Before you argue about Smart, he was light years a better coach than Goff ever was and was far more prepared and ready for this job.

I missed out on most of the details of all this, sounds like TN should self-impose a death penalty and start over in a couple of years. The rest of the actual school has to be embarrassed by all this.

John Currie has fricked the search up badly. No doubt about that.

Both are objectively bad hires but bring me Tee over Schiano all things considered.

What the hell was he doing? He had a month to prepare for this, too.

Currie should resign and give back his salary to date for this disaster.
